Job Description Summary

UAV Resources Coordinator to oversee all aspects of drone resources, including management of drone fleet and developing educational resources related to drone technology. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in drone operations, project management skills, and the ability to create engaging educational content.

Job Description

As UAV Resources Coordinator, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of drone fleet operations and developing educational resources related to drone technology. This role requires a blend of technical expertise in drone operations, project management skills, and the ability to create engaging educational content. This position requires working with the larger drone operations at the University level and other stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Drone Fleet Management:
  • Maintain and manage a fleet of drones, ensuring they are operational, properly maintained, and compliant with regulations. Develop and implement standard operating procedures (SOPs) for drone deployment, flight operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting. Coordinate with drone manufacturers, suppliers, and technicians for repairs, upgrades, and procurement of new equipment.
  1. Flight Operations:
  • Plan and execute drone flight missions for various purposes such as aerial photography, videography, surveying, and data collection. Monitor weather conditions and airspace restrictions to ensure safe and efficient drone operations. Conduct pre-flight checks and risk assessments to mitigate potential hazards.
  1. Regulatory Compliance:
  • Stay up-to-date with local, national, and international regulations governing drone operations. Obtain necessary permits, licenses, and waivers for drone flights and ensure compliance with airspace regulations and privacy laws.
  1. Educational Resource Development:
  • Design and develop educational materials, including training modules, tutorials, manuals, and online resources, to teach drone technology and applications. Collaborate with subject matter experts to create engaging and informative content for learners of all levels, from beginners to advanced users.
  1. Training and Support:
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops for drone operators, educators, students, and other stakeholders. Provide technical support and assistance to users, addressing inquiries, troubleshooting issues, and offering guidance on best practices. Organize community outreach programs and events to promote drone literacy, and Miami's role in UAV technology and use.

6.  Collaborate with other drone/UAV users at the state and local level.

Minimum Qualifications:

Required: Bachelor's degree plus relevant experience; proven experience in drone operations, including piloting, maintenance, and safety protocols; familiarity with drone hardware and software systems, including UAV platforms, sensors, and flight control software; Part 107 Remote Pilot Certification; strong project management skills with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage resources, and meet deadlines; experience in instructional design and curriculum development preferred.
