Siemens Energy Customer Technical Support Engineer (Controls) in Painted Post, New York

A Snapshot of Your Day:

This role will be part of a team of technical support engineers within the Global Services team in Compression business. The team is passionate about supporting turbo compressors product line and consistently works with various internal and external team members.

How You’ll Make an Impact:

  • Be part of the global CP Customer Technical Support (CTS) team passionate about Turbocompressor (TCP).

  • Provide effective day-to-day operational support on controls and instrumentation issues to ensure responses to all inquiries are provided within desired timeframe while meeting Siemens Energy standards of safety, compliance and quality.

  • Answer CTS tickets depending on team loading and technical focus of the ticket.

  • Be ready to provide support and mentorship on variety of technical topics ranging from: maintenance, repairs, operational fixing of compressors.

  • Support Marketing and Sales in front end customer support.

  • Ensure high responsiveness towards customers by helping in monitoring performance metrics.

  • Analyze ticket data to identify patterns of most requested area of support by topic, fleet, customer, etc.

  • Participate in and/or conduct process and design FMEA and RCA as a part of multi-functional team, as required.

  • Closely coordinate with remote diagnostics team to demonstrate available unit data in fixing.

  • Constant engagement with the team to identify areas of improvement, cost out and standardization.

  • Provide mentoring to other members of the team on topics of expertise.

  • Support strategic objectives under Shape Up program by leading key initiatives - targeted growth by demonstrating CTS case related opportunities and collaboration model with internal teams like Field Service and Regional tech support.

What You Bring:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Electrical or Manufacturing Engineering or related field is required.

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in rotating machinery, in rotating machinery, e.g. centrifugal compressors, centrifugal pumps, axial compressors, hot gas expanders, reciprocating compressors, gas turbines, steam turbines, or auxiliary systems is required; THOSE WITH GREATER YEARS OF EXPERIENCE MAY BE ELIGIBLE FOR A HIGHER- LEVEL POSITION.

  • Shown expertise in the fields related to rotating machinery: controls and instrumentation design, package engineering, process controls design, installation and commissioning or solving.

  • Expertise across multiple controls platforms used in compression packages: S7, PCS7, Rockwell A-B, Woodward, etc.

  • Expert user of Salesforce, SAP, TeamCenter and other IT platforms used in engineering and technology environment.

  • Experienced in leading sophisticated technical problems in critical operational scenarios with limited available information.

  • Excellent grasp of digital tools that aid in technical solving including data analytics (RDS).

  • Possess and demonstrate a high degree of tact and integrity; and be capable of dealing with management, peers, shop personnel, and clients.

  • Ability to travel (up to 25%) domestically and internationally with a valid and current passport.

  • Applicants must be legally authorized for employment in the United States without need for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internal transfers.

Preferred Skills

  • Master’s degree in Engineering.

  • Knowledge and understanding of Siemens Energy / Dresser-Rand’s products and services.

  • Expertise in the field of design and operation of centrifugal turbocompressors.

  • Experience with different industry segments for compressors: upstream, midstream and downstream.

  • Familiarity and experience with industry standards such as ASME and API.

The base salary range for this position if based in New York is $85, 000 -$120,000 and the annual incentive target is 10% incentive of base salary. Specific offers are determined by various factors, such as experience, skills, certifications, and other business needs. Employees typically do not start at the top of the range, though compensation depends on each individual’s qualifications.
