Siemens Energy General Machinist - 2ND SHIFT (LB) in Painted Post, New York

A Snapshot of Your Day

This position as a General Machinist works with machine engineered design products with high dollar parts. We use CNC turning and milling machines that are required to hold tight tolerances. Blueprint reading is a must!

The shop floor is responsible for the machining, fit-up, assembly, and quality of a wide variety of parts for compressors and associated components.

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Plan, layout andperform all machine operations on both conventional and N/C machines toconstruct, alter, repair and finish a variety ofparts. Maintain close tolerances.

  • Produce parts frompast prints, samples, sketches or drawings and check work, using standardand/or special gauging devices to assure conformity and to maintainquality standards.

  • Deburr, file,grind, chip, and fit parts made from cast iron, cast steel, malleableiron, nodular iron, sheet and bar steel. Remove burrs, fins andsharp edges using belt sanders, electric bench grinders, air operatorrotary files, and hand files.

  • Set tools and makeall adjustments required on tooling, both standard and present, changingpresetting when necessary.

  • Operate materialhandling equipment, such as, but not restricted to, hand truck, fork orlift truck, crane, hoist, etc. for incidental delivery or receiving ormaterial to or from adjoining areas of the shop.

  • Diagnose andremedy trouble. Ensure coolant logs aremaintained. Keep machines clean and lubricated, followingperiodic check list for preventive maintenance and aid in machinerepair. Work areas are to be kept neat, clean, safe andorderly.

  • It is expectedthat employees will demonstrate their capability and willingness to learn.

What You Bring

  • Must have a HighSchool Diploma or GED that can be verified

  • 1 -3 years machining experience in amanufacturing environment is strongly preferred.

  • Must be willing towork 2nd shift and be flexible enough to work 1 st or 3rd shifton occasion as business requires.

  • Must demonstratethe ability to read and interpret blueprints.

  • Have a general knowledge andunderstanding of machining (such as Lathe, Mills, Manual, and CNC).

  • Familiarity withMicrosoft Office Suite, with basic to intermediate computer skills.

  • Displays anattitude conducive to progress through positive change, continuousimprovement and active contributor to the teamwork concept.

  • Applicants must belegally authorized for employment in the United States without need forcurrent or future employer-sponsored work authorization. Siemens Energyemployees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible for internaltransfers.
