Siemens Energy Piston Rod, General Machinist, 3rd Shift in Painted Post, New York

A Snapshot of Your Day

The selected candidate is responsible for the machining, fit-up, assembly, and quality of a wide variety of parts for compressors and associated components!

As a Piston Rod Machinist you will be completing multiple part setups, machining the parts complete and inspecting them daily for one of our critical part families!

How You’ll Make an Impact

  • Plan,layout and perform all machine operations on conventional and CNC machinesto construct, alter, repair, and finish parts to completion whilemaintaining close tolerances.

  • Produceparts from past prints, samples, sketches or drawings and check work,using standard and/or special gauging devices to assure conformity and tomaintain quality standards.

  • Deburr,file, grind, chip, and fit up parts made from cast iron, cast steel,malleable iron, nodular iron, sheet, and bar steel. Remove burrs, fins andsharp edges using belt sanders, electric bench grinders, air operatorrotary files, and hand files.

  • Operatematerial handling equipment, such as, but not restricted to, hand truck,fork or lift truck, crane, hoist, etc. for incidental delivery orreceiving or material to or from adjoining areas of the shop.

  • Diagnoseand troubleshoot problems; maintain coolant logs; clean and lubricatemachines for preventive maintenance and aid in machine repair.

  • Employeeswill demonstrate their capability and willingness to learn.

What You Bring

  • Musthave a High School Diploma or GED that can be verified; 1 -3 yearsmachining experience in a manufacturing environment is strongly preferred.

  • Mustbe willing to work 3rd shift and be flexible to work 1st or 2nd shift onoccasion as business requires.

  • Abilityto read and interpret blueprints and have math skills to take precisemeasurements and make calculations.

  • Generalknowledge and understanding of machining and CNC programming methods is strongly preferred.

  • Familiaritywith Microsoft Office Suite, with basic to intermediate computer skills.

  • Displaysan attitude conducive to progress through positive change, continuousimprovement, and active contributor to the team.

  • Applicantsmust be legally authorized for employment in the United States withoutneed for current or future employer-sponsored work authorization. SiemensEnergy employees with current visa sponsorship may be eligible forinternal transfers.
