Record information about crops such as pesticide use, yields, or costs; Direct and monitor work during planting and harvesting of crops such as corn, rice, soybeans; Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops; Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; Set up, repair, maintain, and operate irrigation equipment; Inform farmers or farm managers of crop progress; Identify plants, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers; Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery (much of which is equipped with GPS) to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops; Weigh crop-filled containers, and record weights and other identifying information; Guide products on conveyors to regulate flow through machines, and to discard diseased or rotten products; Position boxes or attach bags at discharge ends of machinery to catch products, removing and closing full containers; Load agricultural products into trucks without over or underfilling bed or trailer, and drive to market or storage facilities; Regulate conditions; Feel plants\' leaves and note their coloring to detect the presence of insects or disease; Maintain inventory; Trap and destroy pests such as moles, gophers, and mice; Haul and spread topsoil, fertilizer, and other materials to condition soil; Repair farm buildings, fences, and other structures; Build agricultural structures - minor work, adding equipment cover on the farm like a shed, lean-to, or shade and building up dirt for irrigation activities in the form of levees and spillways. This work will all occur on the farm, will be a minor and incidental portion of the job, and requires no more than 3 months of prior experience; Mix specified materials or\ chemicals, and dump solutions, powders, or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery; Attach implements using hand tools; Clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping.
