A Brief Overview
The Respiratory Care Services Supervisor reports to the Respiratory Care Services Manager. The supervisor oversees the daily operational and clinical aspects of respiratory care including staffing and scheduling. Supervises the RCP Leads and Clinical Specialists including performing annual reviews. Coordinates interviews and assists with orientation of new employees in Respiratory Care. Coordinates capital budget item submission for Respiratory Care and assists with program development. The Supervisor, in conjunction with the Clinical Services Quality/Compliance Supervisor, oversees electronic medical record documentation implementation and ongoing staff training for Respiratory Care. The Supervisor ensures that patient care is consistent with the policies and standards of the institution. Maintains advanced clinical competency. Identifies operational concerns and in conjunction with the manager institutes measures to provide an efficient, effective and safe environment.

What you will do
Actively involved in continuing professional development such as serving on committees, representing the Medical Center at external and internal activities, and maintaining contact with professional organizations Acts as a resource to staff and involved in patient treatment utilizing advanced clinical reasoning skills. Assesses and interprets clinical competency program for Respiratory Care employees in collaboration with Manager of Professional Development and Clinical Education Coordinator
Assists Quality/Compliance Supervisor with developing and implementing performance improvement initiatives, maintaining department policies and procedures and quality monitoring.
Assists Respiratory Care Services Manager in preparing the staff and department for regulatory reviews and surveys, Joint Commission, DHS, etc.
Assumes responsibilities for the Respiratory Care Services Manager in his/her absence
Coordinates capital budget item submission for Respiratory Care.
Develops programs and participates in special projects and committees as agreed upon by the Respiratory Care Services Manager
Directly supervises the Respiratory Care Services RCP Leads, and Clinical Specialists by repeatedly emphasizing and supervising: medication standards; proper and careful use of equipment; adherence to job duties by all personnel; spot checks for proper and adequate charting.
Monitors and ensures staff compliance with clinical competency program.
Performs annual performance reviews of Respiratory Care Services Unit Leads and Clinical Specialists and utilizes Unit Leads in the annual performance reviews of staff.
Responsible for conducting and coordinating job interviews, orientation and access for new employees in Respiratory Care. Initiates disciplinary actions. Provides input into the hiring and termination decisions. Responsible for timecards in accordance with administrative manual
Supervises daily operations of Respiratory Care which may include staffing, resource utilization, and resolving issues on the units
Education Qualifications
- Completion of a 2-year or 4-year AMA approved respiratory care program (Associates degree or the equivalent) or satisfies the requirements as outlined by the NBRC for registry examinations.
Experience Qualifications
- 3-years clinical respiratory care experience including at least two years of critical care respiratory experience
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
Ability to establish effective relationships and communication with staff, clinical leadership team, physicians, other healthcare professionals and patients and families
Ability to plan, organize, motivate, mentor, direct and evaluate the work of others
Ability to provide leadership and influence others
Ability to set priorities and manage multiple tasks
Knowledge of computer systems and software used in functional area
Knowledge of the indications, contraindications, and hazards of continuous mechanical ventilation, various respiratory techniques, and anatomy, physiology, and pathology related to the respiratory system
Skills: Interpersonal, time management, critical thinking and self-initiation skills required.
Licenses and Certifications
ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Life Support
BLS - Basic Life Support
RCP - Licensed Respiratory Care Practitioner in CA
RRT - Registered Respiratory Therapist

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $64.58 - $85.57 per hour
The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
