Our Sarpy County Facilities Management Team is seeking a motivated full-time evening custodian to help provide essential support and services to our County facilities. Previous experience in commercial cleaning is preferred, however paid on the job training is included. As an employee of Sarpy County, you receive regular pay for the services you provide at a rate of $18.69 per hour. In addition to your hourly wage, Sarpy County provides benefits, such as insurance and retirement, which are valued at up to $28,394.80 per year.

GENERAL PURPOSE Work under the close supervision of the Foreman performing a variety of skilled and unskilled tasks and duties to maintain and enhance the environments in the County buildings. Including the County Jail, Juvenile Justice Center (JJC), Sarpy County Court House, 1102 Building, Sarpy County Administration Building.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, supervisors, County employees, elected officials, attorneys, law enforcement, judges, other agencies, and the general public. Participate and attend daily team meetings. Serves as a role model to peers. Represent the Facilities Management Department in a professional manner.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Floors: Daily sweep, scrub, and sanitize all floors. Strip,wax,polish,andbufffloorsusingprofessionalmachinery according to schedule. Monitors floor care cleaning and notifies Foreman of any needs in a timely manner. Utilize professional equipment to vacuum,spotclean,andshampoocarpetsaccording to schedule. Maintain professional equipment to adjust, clean, oil machinery, change brushes, rollers, buffers, in accordance with manufacturers recommendations.

General: Dust, and polish all work surfaces including desks, tables, shelves, file cabinets etc. Collect, dispose and line trash and recycle receptacles, clean trash and recycle receptacles as needed. Wash and sanitize walls, metal, drinking fountains, windows, and treatments. Dustallintake andexhaust vents,lightfixtures, and otherequipment. Change light bulbs and fluorescent tubes as needed. Maintain and stock cleaning supplies, report to Foreman any needs. Cleanemergency spills as requested in a timely manner. Notify Foreman of any hazardous waste spills. Respondtowork orderrequests. Close requests upon completion in a timely manner. Maintain litteraroundbuildings,parkinglots,andlandscaped areas. Report any safety or maintenance need to appropriate Supervisor or Foreman. Reportanyfire orsafetyhazardsand placebarriersinpublicareas. Assistinsnowremovalandleafremoval. Takes appropriate precautions using infection controls practice.

Restrooms: Clean,sweep,scrub,sanitizeandwaxfloors. Clean, disinfect, and de-scale lavatories, urinals, and toilet bowls.Clean, disinfectmirrors, sinks,vents,andwaterfountains. Cleananddustledges,stalls,partitions;lightfixtures,andwoodwork. Replacedeodorizers,toilettissue,handtowels,andsoapaswellascleandispensers. Report any damages, water leaks, clogged drains, and other conditions requiringmaintenance.

Security: Confirm all exterior doors are locked and secured prior to leaving the building. Confirm all lights are turned off. Openfacilitiesasneeded.

Supplies: Maintain utility storage area and custodial equipment clean and in good order. Inspect and maintain assigned custodial equipment and small tools for proper operatingcondition.

Operational/Departmental: Be current and knowledgeable of the proper and safe techniques of building maintenance. Maintainaccurate recordsofwork orders,completed work orders;monitorworkorders, through computer software Reporttoassignedworksitewithregular,predictable,andconsistentattendance. Report to assigned worksite prepared for work.

Peripheral Duties Serve as a member of various committees as assigned. Perform other duties as directed and assigned.

Special Requirements Incumbent may be required to work overtime, irregular hours, varied shifts, evenings, weekends, and holidays. Must have and maintain throughout employment a valid Drivers License, as well as meet eligibility requirements of acceptable driver standards as defined by the County.
