Shire Patient Advocacy Specialist (7 months Shire contract) in Paris, France

The Patient Advocacy Specialist for France will have responsibility for the coordination of country advocacy programs working across, Hematology, Immunology, Genetic diseases and GINSIM divisions. The job holder will support therapy specific & umbrella patient organization programs, along with and in cooperation with Medical Affairs, with national clinicians and clinician organizations. The job holder will understand the company approach to Advocacy planning and execution. They will play a key role in partnering with the global Advocacy team to manage relationships and execute Advocacy programs across a broad spectrum of therapy areas. This role is based in France.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the development of an overall “France” Advocacy strategy to include effective planning, execution and impact measurement of Advocacy strategies

  • Coordinate Advocacy programs and projects across the different franchises divisions, identifying synergies and enabling team cooperation between France Advocacy programs, alongside that of European & Global advocacy programs.

  • Foster & manage relationships and day-to-day interactions with patient and clinician organizations.

  • Support the collection of voice of the customer (health economic, clinical differentiation, etc.) needs and opportunities and shares data with HEOR, Patient and Innovation Policy, Communications and Medical Affairs

  • Monitor, assimilate, assess & internally communicate national health policy environment changes related to patient interaction & influence - to support intelligence for corporate and therapy specific patient advocacy strategies.

  • Know and ensure Advocacy team programs comply with national compliance guidance & external industry codes of conduct.

  • Manage French country input to global Advocacy team communication activities (external and internal).

  • Ensure familiarity and training completed on internal Advocacy tools & materials.

  • Manage internal coordination & external execution of Shire’s participation in national patient organization conferences within France.

  • Lead on ensuring smooth processes in place for national grant applications and approvals in cooperation with relevant internal groups.

Education & Experience Requirements, Skills

Master Degree

Ideally a first experience in Pharmaceutical industry

Approximately 2 years’ experience in Advocacy, Public Affairs or Government Affairs

Language Requirement: English and French

  • Able to organize the communication, adjust to the audience to ensure understanding and comprehend communication from others

  • Has understanding of health policy environment, and the potential opportunities and threats that changes in this environment can offer to Shire’s therapy areas from an Advocacy perspective.

  • Has experience & ability to lead or collaborate within, cross-functional teams to successfully execute strategies & initiatives.

  • Can work within tight deadlines and under pressure

  • Able to implement and organize the national grant applications and approvals

  • Is confident to manage up and downwards working within different teams and for different leads.

  • Shows an interest and willing to contribute new & innovative ideas to Advocacy approaches & programs.
