Job Summary

Park City is a world renowned destination resort and part of the Vail Resorts family. The Park City Ski & Snowboard School is focused on creating a great work environment with an amazing mountain, vast terrain, an authentic town, guest centered lessons, and amazing instructor training. All this contributes to the school’s reputation as an industry leader. We are a high volume school looking for a motivated individual to join our team as an Operational Training Supervisor, helping to provide our guests with an Experience of a Lifetime. The Operational Training Supervisor is a member of the Park City Ski & Snowboard School supervisory team that reports directly to the Training Manager while working closely with Location Managers to facilitate quality lesson products for our guests.

This position includes a hybrid of responsibilities that fluctuate depending on projected business needs. The Operational Training Supervisor will share time as an operations supervisor and training supervisor, with a heavy focus on quality assurance of our lessons and instructor development.

Job Responsibilities:

Leadership and Training:

  • Work with other supervisors and instructors to improve and create training around day-to-day school operations and overall staff development by:

  • Being instrumental in implementing new hire training

  • Creating and delivering training that connects instructor teaching skills to an exceptional guest experience

  • Building and delivering training that equips instructors with operational knowledge

  • Identifying areas for new training

  • Support and align with SSBS and Vail Resorts goals and initiatives

  • Exhibits a professional and reassuring leadership presence, grounded in a strong training background

  • Actively involved with Location & Training Managers in the development & growth of the staff

  • Regular check-in meetings with the Training Manager and Location Managers

  • Be responsive and proactive to guests needs and be involved in guest recovery as needed

  • Proactively provides superior guest service at all times (internal and external)

  • Set the example and ensure all staff follows company and departmental policies & procedures

  • Collaborates with Training Manager and other resort departments to conduct employee on-snow assessments

  • Conducts training in a best fit capacity to support the direction & education needs of the school

  • Champion learning and growth both in self and promoting in others

  • Observe and mentor instructors

  • Assists Supervisor Team with training and certification goals

  • Act with integrity and a role model for the school

Operational:

  • Direct supervision of ski and snowboard instructors.

  • Coach, mentor, and deliver feedback and evaluation of instructors in real time & document conversations in ProConnect

  • Working knowledge of RPOS, including specific Ski School Tools and Report Modules, ProConnect, MS Excel, and MS Outlook

  • Assist with training calendar creation and training attendance tracking

  • Ensure timely employee recognition and disciplinary actions are documented in ProConnect

  • Collection and submission of accurate payroll information.

  • Help maintain SSBS facilities

  • Provides communication about training to instructors and supervisors

  • Timely and responsive email communication

  • Support and actively promotes SSBS Safety Initiatives

Job Qualifications:

  • Required: PSIA/AASI current Level 3 certification or equivalent international certification

  • Preferred: PSIA/AASI Examiner and current Trainer

  • Minimum 5 years instructor experience

  • Actively demonstrates the ability to communicate professionally and effectively with a variety of demographics

  • Demonstrates the ability to perform in a high paced, variable, multi-faceted environment with the ability to multi-task

  • Computer competency desired, familiar with Microsoft Office, Windows based applications, & internet based software with experience with RPOS or RTP is ideal but can be easily learned

  • College degree and/or two years relevant leadership experience in related field, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired and is preferred

Physical Requirements:

  • Able to withstand long exposure to cold and inclement weather

  • Physical strength and ability to respond appropriately to emergency and other unplanned situations.

The expected pay range is $52,000 - $62,465. This is the pay range we reasonably expect to pay for this position. Individual compensation decisions are based on a variety of factors.
