Job Description

Engineering Manager 2 will be responsible for :

  • Manage, provide direct oversight, and administration for electrical engineers working at the planning yard.

  • Provide technical oversight for engineering and design projects related to power, IC, and control systems aboard several classes of ships.

  • Coordinate with Navy, other managers, internal/external customers, and other shipyard departments to support product development.

  • Knowledge and familiarity of military specifications, specs, and standards.

  • Knowledge and familiarity of Engineering and planning yard processes and procedures.

  • Recruit, mentor, train, and provide guidance for new employees.

Basic Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school of engineering and 8 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering, and design or equivalent OR a Master's Degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited school and 6 years of progressive technical experience in research, engineering, and design.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Understanding of Planning Yard processes and inter-relationships

  • Must demonstrate teaming and relationship-building experience

  • Experience with drawing development and system design for shipboard electrical systems including: power, lighting, Ship controls, interior communication, and navigation

  • Experience with the LPD17, LHD1, LHA6, and LCS Classes of ships from an Engineering, Design, or operational perspective
