THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As part of this position, you will be responsible for performing skilled maintenance and repair tasks on a wide range of vehicles, equipment, and tools. The repairs will focus on diesel equipment, excluding certain tasks such as diagnostics and parts rebuilding. Your duties will encompass oil changes, mechanical diagnostics, tune-ups, tire changes, and more for vehicles and equipment.

Additionally, you will handle repairs for various systems including electrical, brake, and steering. You will also conduct official state safety and emissions inspections on assigned vehicles, ensuring compliance with specifications and affixing inspection stickers. For diesel equipment, you will carry out oil changes, service filters, and replace parts. Furthermore, you will address repairs for electrical systems, cooling systems, and suspension. You will also demonstrate repair techniques to other employees and provide assistance with major repairs. Lastly, you will maintain equipment records and offer emergency road service when necessary.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.

  • Work hours are 4:00 PM to 12:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch. Work hours are subject to change based on seasonal requirements and operational needs.

  • This position requires travel, overtime and shift work as necessary.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of experience in the automotive mechanic trade; or completion of an approved apprenticeship; or

  • Any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledges, skills, and abilities.

    Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of a current and valid Pennsylvania Class C driver's license.

  • This position requires possession of a Commonwealth of Pennsylvania Class 1 Certified Inspection Mechanic certification.

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
