THE POSITION

The Lackawanna-Susquehanna County Drug and Alcohol Unit is seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our team as a Drug and Alcohol Case Management Specialist Trainee. In this role, you will learn appropriate screening and assessment practices and techniques in order to obtain necessary information from clients, family and/or involved collaterals for the identification of service needs for drug and alcohol related problems. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

Your focus in this position will be to advise clients on program policies, procedures, case management services, and the treatment process. Work includes conducting intake interviews, completing level of care assessments, and arranging for appropriate care and services to meet client needs. Communication will be key in developing rapport with clients to facilitate their progress throughout their treatment experience. Additional duties will include monitoring client treatment progress during the treatment process, conducting continuing stay reviews, as well as coordinating follow up and aftercare services.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours are 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 60-minute lunch.

  • This position requires accepting after hour calls, one week per month.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Dependency, Sociology, Social Welfare, Psychology, Nursing or a related field; or a Bachelor’s Degree which includes or is supplemented by successful completion of 18 college credits in sociology, social welfare, psychology, criminal justice or other related social sciences;or

  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
