THE POSITION

The Wilkes-Barre office of the Department of Environmental Protection's Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation (BAMR) is currently looking for an Environmental Engineer to join their team. In this position, you will apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and guidelines to successfully investigate public concerns that involve abandoned mine land problems. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will utilize established engineering methods, protocols, and guidelines to effectively address public inquiries related to issues concerning abandoned mine lands. You will be responsible for developing exploratory drilling initiatives, conducting subsurface evaluations in accordance with Act 17, and providing support to other personnel within the Bureau of Abandoned Mine Reclamation (BAMR) on geological and mining matters as required. Additionally, you will exercise discretion to implement minor adjustments and modifications as necessary, while also engaging in project development for the investigation section of the Wilkes-Barre District Office. Your contributions will be essential in advancing the objectives of the Bureau in managing and reclaiming abandoned mine sites.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Wilkes-Barre.
Salary: Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $ $73,995.00 (before taxes).

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Four years of professional experience in environmental engineering, and possession of a valid Engineer-in-Training certificate issued by or acceptable to the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists; or
Three years of professional experience in environmental engineering, and possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists ; or
Two years as an Environmental Engineering Specialist; or
Three years of professional experience in environmental engineering, and a bachelor’s degree in environmental engineering or in any engineering field that includes or is supplemented by 9 credits in environmental engineering.
Graduate study in environmental engineering or in a closely related field may be substituted for the required experience on a year-for-year basis.
Condition of Employment:
This position requires possession of a valid driver’s license.
This position requires possession of a valid Professional Engineer license issued by the Pennsylvania State Registration Board for Professional Engineers, Land Surveyors and Geologists.
Other Requirements:
