THE POSITION

Are you looking for an opportunity to utilize your experience in maintenance and grounds work in a leadership role? The Department of Human Services is seeking a motivated and industrious individual to direct the grounds and landscaping activities at Norristown State Hospital. If you enjoy working as part of a productive team to accomplish goals and tasks, this is the job for you!

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Labor Foreman 2, you will oversee a group of semi-skilled laborers assigned to the grounds and landscaping division. You can expect to play a pivotal role in the repair and maintenance of all outdoor facilities, including roads, parking areas, sidewalks, sewers, catch basins, railings, fences, curbing, and cement work. Other responsibilities include ensuring the safety of the outdoor grounds by coordinating snow and ice removal, as well as ensuring grass cutting, line trimming, and weed control are completed on a regular basis. In addition, you will be required to participate in the Medical Monitoring Program and all approved asbestos training programs.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment

  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

  • Work schedule may change based on operational needs.

  • Overtime and travel may be required as operationally necessary.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • Four years of experience in performing manual labor, semi-skilled labor or maintenance work, including two years of experience as a lead worker; or

  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training.

    Special Requirement:

  • This position requires possession of a valid Class C Driver's License.

    Legal Requirements:

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
