THE POSITION
PennDOT is eager to connect with you! The Bedford County Maintenance office is looking for a Maintenance Repairman 1. In this position, you will be essential in aiding the county maintenance team by providing custodial and trades support. DESCRIPTION OF WORK
In this role, you will support the county maintenance organization by providing cleaning and maintenance services to ensure cleanliness and prolong the life of buildings. Your tasks will include cleaning floors, polishing furniture, maintaining restrooms, and managing waste disposal. You will also handle outdoor maintenance like mowing, landscaping, and snow removal, while ensuring that the exterior areas and entrances are tidy. Additionally, you will be responsible for moving furniture and equipment, painting surfaces as needed, and regularly disinfecting shared workspaces and frequently touched surfaces.
You will perform minor repairs using carpentry, electrical, and plumbing tools. This includes fixing existing facilities and assisting skilled staff with larger maintenance projects. Your responsibilities will also cover maintaining safety equipment like fire extinguishers and emergency generators, as well as performing repairs on security gates. Furthermore, you will assist skilled workers on various projects and may be tasked with delivering supplies and running errands as needed.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
Full-time employment
Work hours are 7:30 AM to 3:30 PM, Monday - Friday, with 30-minute lunch.
Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
QUALIFICATIONS
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
Two years of experience in general maintenance work which has involved at least two of the building, electrical, or mechanical trades; or
Any equivalent combination of experience and training that affords the applicant with the Required Knowledges, Skills, and Abilities.
Special Requirement:
You must possess a valid Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License.
Additional Requirements:
You must be able to perform essential job functions.
