DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This Network Specialist 2 position is in the Compute & Cloud Services (CCS) Division and serves under the direction of the Office of Administration, Enterprise Technology Services Office. With our team, you will support the day-to-day operation of virtual server infrastructure for the Commonwealth and its Agencies. This includes assisting with the deployment, configuration, monitoring, maintenance, repair, and decommissioning of virtual server hardware, virtual hosts, automation services, virtual infrastructure, and related equipment.

This position supports and uses daily the following VMware products and systems:

  • VMware Aria Operations (vRealize Operations)

  • VMware Aria Automation (vRealize Automation)

  • VMware Aria Operations for Logs (vRealize Log Insight)

  • VMware Aria Suite Lifecycle (vRealize Suite Lifecycle Manager)

  • VMware vCenter Orchestrator

  • VMware NSX-T

  • VMware Site Recovery Manager

    Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment.

  • Work hours are 8:30 am to 5:00 pm, Monday - Friday, with 60-minute lunch.

  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) full-time. You will be required to report on site at least one day per month and as needed based on work type/load. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Harrisburg.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Network Specialist 1;or

  • Four years of information technology experience that includes one year of technical experience in network operation or network maintenance;or

  • Two years of information technology experience that includes one year of technical experience in network operation or network maintenance, and an associate's degree in any information technology field;or

  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes one year of technical experience in network operation or network maintenance.
