THE POSITION

DESCRIPTION OF WORK

In this role, you will be responsible for reviewing documentation related to completed work units and materials to ensure compliance with accuracy and departmental policies. You will assist in managing and overseeing the district's field construction project records through the Electronic Construction Management System (ECMS), the PennDOT Project Collaboration Center (PPCC), and mobile applications on PennDOT-issued iPads. Your responsibilities will include participating in technical reviews of material costs for highway and bridge projects, conducting audits to verify the completeness and accuracy of documentation and work orders from project management staff for payment purposes, and performing statistical audits to confirm the correctness of final quantities and costs reported by construction personnel. Additionally, you will support inspections of road and bridge construction to ensure adherence to plans and specifications, as well as evaluate permit construction and utility work on roadways. You will also help manage the placement and maintenance of work zone traffic control signs and devices in accordance with the work zone traffic control plan, assist in processing periodic progress payments, and verify stakeouts, elevations, grades, slopes, excavation, material placement, and compaction. Furthermore, you will aid in testing materials for project use and gather materials delivery forms and certifications. Lastly, you will collaborate with construction personnel to review audit findings and resolve any discrepancies related to payments, documentation, calculations, and cross-section areas.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment, vendor controlled schedule

  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

  • Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in Oil City.

  • This position will cover projects in Warren, Forest, Venango, Mercer, Crawford, and Erie County.

  • Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
