Expected Length of Internship: Duration of Internship will be one Semesters (Summer) As an internship company, we allow flexibility to enroll in classes while working as an intern, as long as it does not interfere with the essential functions of the position. Experience: Basic knowledge of MS Excel and Power Point. Basic programming experience recommended but not required. Strain Measurements and Data Acquisition experience recommended but not required. Education: Currently enrolled in BS electrical or mechanical engineering program required. Must currently be enrolled in a Bachelors, Master's or PhD program who is fulfilling a graduation requirement for their degree. First Solar encourages all interns to register with their University. Required Skills/Competencies: General electrical/electronic knowledge. Ability to work with minimal supervision. Self-directed, proactive approach to problem solving. Good written and oral communication skills. Excellent problem solving skills. Strong organization skills. Basic Internship Scope (Project): Support new test and characterization equipment development projects consisting of concept development, specification development, experimentation, gauge R&R and data analysis and scripting. Execute planned experiments and equipment qualification testing. Includes collecting, analyzing data and reporting results. Assist with the different in-house and outdoors module reliability testing and activities. Write work/test instructions. Upon the completion of this internship, the intern is required to present their accomplishments and project summary to the leadership team. Travel: No travel is required. Estimated Hourly Range: $17.00 - $25.00 per hour US Physical Requirements: Manufacturing & Maintenance Physical Requirements: Will climb stairs on an occasional basis. Will lift up to 51 pounds on an occasional basis, according to work instruction. Will push or pull up to 27 pounds of force on an occasional basis. 20/40 vision in each eye (with or without correction) and the ability to distinguish between red, yellow and green is required. May stoop, kneel, or bend, on an occasional basis. Must be able to comply with all safety standards and procedures. Ability to wear personal protective equipment is required (including but not limited to; steel toed shoes, cut resistant gloves, jackets, aprons &/or arm guards, safety glasses, hearing protection).
