DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Position Requirements:

  • Prepare and/or transport all food and beverage items and associated supplies, equipment, and materials to and from the breakfast areas. Restock supplies and non-refrigerated food items at end of serving times.

  • Monitor area to ensure adequate supplies of food, beverage, trays, plates, utensils, napkins, condiments, etc. to serve all guests; replenish food items and areas as necessary.

  • Follow preparation methods, times, and quality and presentation standards. Monitor taste, appearance and texture, serving temperature, presentation and cleanliness.

  • Welcome guests and respond to requests in a prompt and professional manner. Refer any serious matters to management.

  • Requisition for purchase inventory to ensure adequate minimum and maximum stocks of all food, beverage, and materials. Remove and dispose of items that are dated on the day before expiration date. Notify supervisor when any item is less than 5 day supply.

  • Monitor and control food and beverage procedures to ensure the security and proper storage of food and beverage products, inventory, and equipment and to minimize waste.

  • Maintain a clean, neat, and well-organized work and buffet area, which may include but is not limited to tables, carts, ovens and grills, toasters and microwaves, sinks, refrigerator/freezers, service areas, walls, floors, and counters. Empty trash receptacles, clean utensils, serving pieces, appliances and hot dishes, and clear tables as needed and at end of scheduled serving times.

  • Check the working condition of equipment. Report to supervisor all unsafe or malfunctioning equipment, safety hazards, or any other maintenance and repair needs.

  • Promote teamwork and quality service through daily communication and coordination with other departments.

  • Perform other duties as assigned.

GUEST EXPERIENCE:

  • Respond in a courteous and prompt manner to all guests questions and/or requests to ensure strong guest satisfaction.

  • Be aware of Safety and Security procedures as part of interaction with guests and for guest health and security

  • Acknowledge and engage in a pleasant and service oriented manner.

RESPONSIBLE BUSINESS:

  • Ensure a safe and secure environment for guests and team members by reporting any safety and security concerns to management.

  • Maintain a focus and commitment to operating a “green” hotel.

ACCOUNTABILITY:

This position reports to the Operations Manager. In absence of direct report, this position may report to other department supervisors or managers.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Basic reading, writing and math skills and some prior food preparation experience preferred.

This job requires ability to perform the following:

  • Carrying or lifting items weighing up to 50 pounds, Bending, stooping, kneeling

  • Standing up and moving about the breakfast area

  • Handling food, objects, products and utensils

  • Ability to take and pass the Serve Safe course and other trainings as required

  • Communication skills are utilized a significant amount of time when interacting with guests and supervisors.

  • Reading and writing abilities are utilized often when preparing buffet items from instructions.

  • Mathematical skills, including basic math, measurements, quantities, and variances are used frequently.

  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays
