Job Title: Yard Jockey

Job Description

Drive a flatbed throughout the yard to transport steel beams and assist in backing up and prepping for loads coming in and out of the facility. Initially, spend time learning placement of materials and the three areas where steel and steel plates are stored. Perform tasks beyond yard jockey work, though primarily focus on moving materials, backing in trailers, or waiting on materials. Work around flatbed trucks and railcar systems, adhering to all safety rules. Collaborate well with trainers and team members, ensuring safety and communication within the facility. Recall and remember various locations of stored product, document inventory via paper and WMS with proficient computer skills. Learn and retain information based on color coding of painted beam ends. Maintain a good track record with no safety infractions in previous driving roles.

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Petersburg, Virginia.

Work Environment

Inside and outside, with steel stored both in the building and in two separate yards onsite. Very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter. Environment resembles a construction site more than a standard manufacturing facility, requiring comfort with hard hats, steel-toed boots, and safety vests.
