The Department of Physical Plant at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania is seeking a Mechanical Control System Technician position:
Summary:
- Maintenance, installation, and repair HVAC systems and HVAC & Boiler equipment. The Mechanical Control System Technician will be skilled in cleaning, adjusting and repairing systems. Monitoring of BAS Controls and making the appropriate equipment adjustments needed as identified in the BAS systems. Testing and Preventive Maintenance on HVAC & Boiler equipment. Works in conjunction with the Health System Energy Manager and outside vendors in relation to various department systems.
Responsibilities:
Repair and maintenance of all HVAC air handling and chiller plant equipment.
Operates and assist with computer-based Energy Management System (EMS) and other department systems, including, the building automation system (BAS), pneumatic tube system, fire alarm systems, and other Engineering systems related to the Life Safety elements of the hospital and outpatient buildings on campus.
For each system, duties would include enters, deletes and modifies monitored points and their set points
establishes and monitors remote controls for all monitored equipment and conditions.
Monitors peak demand, limits controls and modifies, as required, in association with the Health System Energy Manager.
Assists in troubleshooting EMS related problems throughout the facility, and with installation of EMS computer hardware and software, including set-up. Systems include Johnson Controls Metasys.

Schneider Electric BAS.
Repair and maintenance of all HVAC air handling and chiller plant equipment such as thermostats, motors, compressors, motor starters and controls, heat exchangers, steam traps, coils, dampers, and all drive accessories.
Experience troubleshooting HVAC systems using schematic, diagrams and/or blueprints.
Performs preventive maintenance on equipment as required.
Credentials:
Class A Engineer's License (Required)
Education or Equivalent Experience:
H.S. Diploma/GED (Required)
5+ years healthcare design, construction or maintenance and some familiarity with Building Automation Systems (BAS) (Required)
