This program immerses students into the daily operation of a contemporary media and technology company while working side-by-side with Comcast’s top innovators. The student becomes an integral part of the Comcast team working on creative, innovative, and thought-provoking projects within various business units.

Role Description

At Comcast, our Global Design team puts people at the heart of everything we do, and we are looking for an enthusiastic industrial designer to join our team as we develop the future of entertainment and connected products together.

What are some interesting problems the student will work on?

As an industrial design intern, you will:

  • Learn about the real-world application of design practices and concept development through hands-on participation in global projects through the mentorship of our senior staff

  • Collaborate in qualitative fieldwork, brainstorming and ideation sessions

  • Partner with our fabrication lab to build prototypes and mockups of concepts (rapid prototyping and/or traditional means)

  • Help with concept refinement, 3D CAD development and building presentations

  • Take part in design reviews and the decision-making process

Where can this student make an impact?

You’ll be working amongst a talented team of industrial, packaging, and other design specialists. Success in this role is characterized by strong visualization skills, prototyping/mock-up skills, a comfort in working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, and a willingness to learn and grow.

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Researching and staying current with design trends, emerging technologies, and sustainable material development.

  • Give towards generating concepts for new products and participating in conceptualization sessions.

  • Developing 3D models and prototypes using a variety of materials and techniques.

  • Being part of a team that ensures the designs meet the high standards for quality, functionality, sustainability, and user experience.

  • Developing an understanding of product design range, building harmony, consistency, and clear purpose across multiple product forms factors, and functionalities.

  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

  • Communication Skills:  Candidates must have strong presenting, verbal, written, and visual presentation skills.

  • *Team Skills: * Successful applicants demonstrate a strong collaborative ethos and appreciation for working together toward common goals.

  • *Visual Design Sensitivity: * Candidates for this position have a strong design sensibility and can distinguish between “good” and “great” work.

  • Prototyping Skills:  Successful applicants for this position understand that you succeed sooner by experimenting and that prototyping can be done with various levels of fidelity

  • Preferred Major: Industrial Design

Minimum Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements

  • Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from a United States-based college or university

  • Rising Junior only (must have a graduation date between Winter 2026- Spring 2027)

  • Returning to degree-program (for at least a semester) after the completion of the summer internship (meaning, student must be returning to school for Fall 2025 semester before graduating)

  • Available to work 40 hours per week over the course of the summer program- June 2 through August 15, 2025

  • Authorized to work in the United States with no current or future sponsorship needs

  • Available to report in-person to the work location on the job posting (unless virtual offering)

Salary:

Base Pay: $32.00
