University of Pennsylvania Research Associate in Gynecologic Oncology, Penn Ovarian Cancer Research Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

The Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Expertise is required in the specific area of ovarian cancer development and progression with a focus on tumor microenvironment and the emerging role of innervation on tumor biology. A strong background in molecular biology, drug development, mouse models, and cancer genomics is required. Candidates must have at least 3-5 years of postdoctoral training. Applicants must have an M.D. or Ph.D degree.

Responsibilities may include performing in vivo and in vitro experiments, data analysis, writing grants, progress reports, and manuscripts for publication, and participating in Center activities. Applicants must have demonstrated prior certification for: human subjects research, institutional animal care and use committee (IACUC) approval to work with animals, viral vector use, and recombinant DNA technology.

The successful applicant will have an opportunity to work directly with investigators in the Penn Ovarian Cancer Research Center, present research findings at national meetings, mentor undergraduate and graduate students, have input on the direction of the science and conduct research while interacting with faculty, other research associates, post-doctoral fellows and MD/PhD students in the research laboratory.

Additional responsibilities may include planning, organizing and executing research projects related to the main scope and focus of the lab; organizing different resources to be utilized in the course of study; getting approval from different regulatory authorities; writing and disseminating research results by preparing manuscripts and presenting the research findings at scientific conferences.
