Position Summary

The Clinical Affairs Manager provides clinical expertise, insight and support to clinical end-users, Clinical sales, Sales, Regulatory, Engineering, Marketing and other corporate departments in the critical care and vascular access space.

Supports new product development within Critical Care and Vascular Access portfolio via research, collaboration, and subject matter expertise. Drives innovation by identifying product attributes necessary to expand into new markets, or capitalize on new clinical applications; identifies new, clinically driven product and market opportunities; and performs other related duties as required. Provides cross functional support for an expanding critical care and vascular access portfolio. Supports CMA leadership initiatives in collaboration with the broader clinical affairs team.

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to provide a standardized delivery method for medical device applications in the clinical setting. Strong organizational skills are required with an aptitude for motivating clinicians and providing clinical support to all Teleflex employees. The capability for strategic planning to reach the company’s long-term goals is required.

Principal Responsibilities

• Maintain and develop expertise in Critical care and vascular product portfolio, with emphasis on new product development and concept to commercialization.

• Participate as a clinical expert on innovation project teams, committees and in meetings with various corporate departments to provide guidance for critical care and vascular BU projects.

• Collaborate with Clinical operations on research requirements for product development and lifecycle management

• Manage performance improvement programs and supportive platforms for the Vascular BU

• Collaborate with regulatory affairs and R&D teams for product development and maintenance

• Support and align human factor and design validation for safe and effective product launch

• Provide oversite for Medical Advisory Board activities and/or focus groups.

• Outlines and maintains KOL strategies and relationships

• Provide subject matter expertise for regulatory Scientific exchanges of information with medical societies. Pre-conference & in-booth educational programs, Meetings with scientific committees, Education grant support, Research submissions (in collaboration with the Global Research & Scientific Services team)

• Coordinate efforts between cross functional partners considering Medical Affairs, Clinical operations, marketing, and R&D.

• Supports new product launch and Launch Excellence tactics serving as clinical expert when interfacing with SBU Leadership, Clinical Sales, and Teleflex team members.

• Off-label support for Teleflex products in accordance with Teleflex policy & local legal regulations

• Manage utilization of HCPs in accordance with Teleflex IPPs

• Manage all business-associated administrative tasks and responsibilities to support job related activities; to include strict adherence to the Teleflex Medical T&E policies and procedures, timely filing of required and/or requested reports, documentation of activities via approved documents and forms

• Adhere to applicable Teleflex IPP’s, Teleflex Code of Ethics, and all Company policies, rules, procedures, and housekeeping standards.

Education / Experience Requirements

• Bachelors’ Degree required. Masters’ or PhD Preferred. Prefer degree in health-related field.

• License required: Acceptable credentials include RN, RT, NP, PA or allied health

• Possess minimum five years’ clinical experience in critical care environment

• Medical device industry experience strongly preferred

• Clinical proficiency in area of clinical training and experience vascular access preferred

• Regulatory experience preferred

• Clinical and Medical Affairs experience preferred

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

• Must be able to establish and maintain vendor credentials (via RepTrax, Vendormate, etc) to have the ability to enter and work, as required, in hospitals and other medical facilities, as an essential function of the job. Depending on customer/site requirements, vendor credentials may require the employee to obtain the COVID-19 vaccination, including boosters.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills, as well as presentation skills.

• Ability to communicate clearly and professionally

• Effective time-management and organizational skills.

• High attention to detail and the ability to adapt to shifting priorities

• Established track record of building and maintaining relationships with internal and external customers.

• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Powerpoint, etc.

• Strong research, logic and reasoning ability

• Demonstrated ability to conduct business in an ethical manner

• Strong understanding of principles used to find, analyze and assess clinical studies and appropriately apply them in the application of Teleflex Medical products.

• Ability to read, understand and abide by company procedures. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions and report on findings.

• Ability to work successfully in a home office environment

• Requires the ability to travel a minimum of 50% including overnight stays and ability to travel internationally.
