Position Profile
The Prior Authorization Specialist will obtain prior authorization from non-Medicare insurance companies.
Responsibilities
Obtains prior authorization from non-Medicare insurance companies.
Contacts non-Medicare insurance companies for prior authorization upon patient admission.
Documents authorization notes and status in EMR and patient’s electronic chart.
Initiates, supports, and participates in efforts to gain authorization.
Brings complex cases to Prior Authorization Nurse(s) so they can assist in obtaining authorization.
Maintains and enhances professional skills.
Adheres to high standards of personal and professional conduct.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or GED certificate.
Minimum three years of recent administrative experience in the medical field.
Preferred Qualifications
Hospice experience preferred.
Knowledge of commercial and AHCCCS payers.
Knowledge of insurance regulations related to hospice healthcare benefits.
