Banner Health is currently seeking an RN Clinical Support Analyst I responsible for supporting the clinical applicati0ons needs of the Engagement & Support AZ Central team. This clinical applications support team member is responsible for providing informatics expertise and resources for assigned acute and ambulatory areas. They will be providing on-going clinical user support for various clinical and business operations teams. This position supports the organization’s vision and direction for computer systems, workflow design, data management, and related processes. The RN Clinical Support Analyst I serve as a liaison between the clinical staff, clinical education team, Nursing/Medical Informatics, and the Clinical Applications IT team to communicate user needs and facilitate system optimization.

The typical schedule for this role is Monday-Friday 8a-5p. The primary location for this role will be on-site at BUMCP however may also need to cover other AZ Central facilities as needed. This position will have occasional remote capabilities. An ideal candidate would possess a bachelor’s degree with 2+ years of acute experience, experience/interest with information technology and clinical informatics in a healthcare setting, time management skills, multitasking abilities, and strong communications skills.

This is position is onsite at BUMC-P with the possibility of traveling to other locations in the valley. This role is M-F 8-5pm RN License is required for this role.

POSITION SUMMARY

This position will serve as the subject matter expert for complex clinical workflows as they relate to systems and processes. They will apply nursing standards as they collaborate with IT teams and user groups to develop and deploy best practices. Incorporates critical thinking and knowledge of clinical decision making into the support of software and IT processes. Assist with the clinical consensus group development and implementation of current and future state workflows. Works closely with multidisciplinary teams to develop best practices based their broad understand across clinical venues and user groups. Collaborate to increase efficiencies and promote continuity of care through technology and workflow improvements.

CORE FUNCTIONS

  1. Applies nursing standards to perform outcome coordinator functions. Promotes holistic understanding of the application of technology to improve clinical workflows and patient care. Provides clinical knowledge to perform high visibility rounding, development of user groups and coaching in complex care delivery settings. Performs user acceptance testing for system enhancements to ensure adoption and improvement of clinical care delivery. Participates in solution evaluation, tracks, monitors, and enhances usage, and implements action plans. Provides visibility and support of clinical applications systems. May coordinate with other appropriate departments regarding downtime.

  2. Performs Educator functions. Influence end-user training through the application of clinical expertise and technical skills. Contribute to the implementation of communication and education plans in conjunction with clinical educators and leadership for current staff to ensure changes to the electronic health record are implemented. Utilizes data analytics to support needs-based training, based clinical knowledge and patient care experience.

  3. Performs Consultant and Project Coordinator functions. Maintains on-going user communication and support to ensure user competency and obtain information on usage of the system and workflow concerns through established, regularly scheduled rounding. Collaborates with end-users to help define issues and enhancement opportunities within the electronic health record. Provides project support in conjunction with project leadership for the deployment and support of new and existing IT clinical applications. Brings clinical expertise in conjunction with operational leaders and all levels of clinical staff to support new and existing IT clinical applications.

  4. Performs Advocate functions to ensure technology solutions support patient care standards and outcomes. Operational collaboration with users, service area leadership, and IT field services to resolve conflicts between workflow and the electronic health record. Supports staff in the use of existing technology in a manner which promotes maintenance of patient safety and confidentiality and supports facility-specific and system-wide processes.

  5. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of trends and advances in the field of healthcare IT as well as new developments of electronic health record and associated technologies. Maintains up-to-date knowledge of clinical practices, regulatory standards, and organizational direction. Utilizes this knowledge in supporting users and process teams. Apply evidence-based research methodologies to maintain up-to-date knowledge of trends and advances in the field of healthcare IT. Demonstrates expertise and coordinates documentation and workflow changes in response to evidence-based information.

  6. This position must interact with and support all levels of end users throughout the facility or specialty area, including technicians, nurses, therapists, and physicians.

Internal Customers: All levels of management and staff, medical staff, and other healthcare members for the purpose of integrating services, improving patient care, ensuring effective communication systems and facilitating decision making in clinical practice.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Incumbents must possess knowledge and experience equivalent to completion of a bachelor’s degree in healthcare related field or related business discipline; and have an active RN license for a clinical position in a practicing state.

Must have two to three years experience working within a complex and diverse health care setting.

Must be proficient in the use of system office applications. Must possess a basic understanding of integrated clinical systems. Must have highly developed interpersonal and critical thinking skills with the ability to prioritize needs rapidly. This position requires the ability to convey messages and thoughts clearly to a diverse audience, using both verbal and written mediums. Requires the ability to promote change among large groups of workers. Requires the ability to coordinate information and activities, work under stress of deadlines and frequent interruptions, and to possess analytical problem-solving skills. Requires the maintenance of familiarity with clinical care processes and information technology.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing; Certification in Nursing Informatics preferred.
