American Express Global Commercial Services (GCS) offers powerful backing and support that helps companies of all sizes gain financial savings, control, and efficiency. We provide a suite of payment and lending products, solutions for travel and everyday business spending, cross border payments, global currency solutions, and business financing.

The Commercial Onboarding Services team plays a critical role in delivering best in class revenue empowering services across the customer lifecycle. Our vision is to drive customer success throughout the pre-sales, onboarding, and payment phases. In addition, the Operational Excellence team supports the core operational risk functions including ensuring priorities are implemented in a manner consistent with internal policy as well as external / regulatory expectations while enabling business growth, achieving superior customer experience, driving risk mitigation as well as operational efficiencies.

The Sr. Manager- Strategic Program Management will report to the VP, Strategy, Governance and Program Management Office. This person will supervise and lead pivotal initiatives, critical program operations and communications to ensure successful business outcomes.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Collaborate with key collaborators across GCS and enterprise partners to align program work to deliver against organizational objectives.

  • Provide oversite of strategic initiatives and roadmaps across stakeholder groups to establish interdependencies, identify risks and resource constraints, and eliminate significant roadblocks in a timely fashion.

  • Maintain awareness of cross product/program synergies and actively communicate opportunities to simplify or better align work across teams.

  • Provide recommendations for areas of improvement through internal/external research and analysis and lead key activities to support the team to ensure the desired customer and business value is delivered.

  • Prepare communications including strategic business reviews/presentations to senior leaders and external audiences

  • Design and implement programs to optimize business processes, drive efficient organizational performance and colleague engagement

Minimum qualifications:

  • Successful track record of leading complex projects that deliver technical/non-technical solutions and achieve business results, positively impacting the customer experience.

  • Proven track record to develop effective, matrixed, cross-organization relationships, collaborating and communicating across business and technology partners and multiple geographies

  • Strong technical competence and strong voice of the customer

  • Proven experience in project management, change management and organizational dynamics.

  • Understanding of Agile methodology and/or exposure to improvement methodologies a plus (Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies)

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Information Systems.

  • 5 years relevant work experience in project management, business transformation, large scale technology implementations and/or financial services

  • Prior change management, experience in payments/ B2B/ Corporate Card business.

Qualifications

Salary Range: $80,000.00 to $155,000.00 annually bonus benefits
