The Manager – Distribution Engineering is a senior level professional with deep and extensive knowledge of electric distribution systems. Assists in the development of strategic, operational and financial plans. Achieves results by leading a team to execute distribution engineering activities to ensure that customers are efficiently served and that construction projects are completed safely, timely, and within budget. Responsible for the performance and development of high-level technical employees with distribution engineering responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities

Provides leadership and coaching in the execution of distribution engineering initiatives required to achieve efficiency, effectiveness, and innovation objectives. Ensures these initiatives are customer focused.
Teams with distribution planning, operations, and construction employees to expand the distribution system while maintaining a balance between cost, reliability, maintainability, and safety.
Assures that distribution facilities meet applicable codes and regulations, and that the proper construction designs and materials are used on the distribution system. Also, ensures that the appropriate GIS information is provided to reflect any changes to the distribution system.
Manages the distribution engineering group such that projects are completed effectively. Assesses and modifies departmental workflow to maximize efficiency. Continually communicates with the two other distribution engineering managers to ensure consistent application of work practices.
Oversees and manages the performance of distribution engineering staff, monitors their progress, develops their skills, and holds them accountable to defined project milestones.
Provides engineering leadership and technical support as needed for direct reports, internal customers, and external customers.
Assures the creation of accurate costs estimates to enable proper evaluation of system expansion projects. Assesses estimate accuracy after projects are complete and refines estimating processes accordingly.
Interacts with Director level management on a regular basis to proactively support business objectives both within distribution engineering and across the overall function.
Be a champion of safety and mold a team to incorporate safe work practices into every aspect of their jobs.
Qualifications
Required Education, Skills & Experience
Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from ABET approved curriculum or Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering with certification by the NCEES to sit for the FE exam.
7+ years of related experience
2+ years people management experience preferred
Knowledge of standard business practices and professionalism
Ability to interact with all levels of employees to address difficult issues
Ability to manage high workloads and conflicting priorities
Ability to operate effectively and proactively with an employee centric mindset
Detailed-oriented and high work standards in support of seamless execution
Strong analytical and critical thinking skills to interpret KPIs/metrics and derive insights into actionable opportunities

Maintain a strong knowledge of industry and technology trends
This level is based only on availability in approved org design/structure; strict adherence is required.
Progression to this level is strictly restricted on the basis of critical individual capabilities and business requirements
