University of Pittsburgh Executive in Retail Management in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania

The Executive in Retail Management (EIR) Program is a powerful career development resource available to Pitt Business students. Our EIRs have significant experience in the professional world, and they are available to share that experience with students. Pitt Business EIRs offer personalized advising support and career coaching. As a current or former senior leader in an organization, they know firsthand what it takes to reach the top ranks for the business world. Senior leaders hold executive or upper management positions and provide high-level leadership and direction for an organizations essential day-to-day operations. Their direct reports are typically directors and other upper-tier administrators.

Pitt Business is seeking candidates with a Bachelors Degree and extensive executive or upper management experience in retail management. This knowledge will help both undergraduate and graduate students navigate the employment landscape of this industry.

This EIR position will be responsible for advising students who are interested in exploring a career in the retail management industry, and aiding students in finding internships and full-time employment in this industry. This position is expected to start in Fall 2024.

The Katz Graduate School of Business and College of Business Administration (Pitt Business) invites applications from interested professionals for a position as an Executive in Residence. The EIR in Retail Management will be responsible for the following:

Advising:

Meeting with students who are interested in exploring the retail management industry. Additionally, will meet with students who are interested in working as either interns or full-time employees with regional retail businesses.

Provide customized guidance for industry-specific resumes, cover letters, and interviews.

Provide networking and interviewing coaching

Conduct mock interviews

Inform students and campus community members about employer recruiting activities, such as information sessions, interviewing opportunities, and online job postings.

Promote the Career Development Office throughout campus and by participating in university-sponsored events and activities.

Once individual meetings are completed, documenting all interactions via Handshake.

Develop and implement a retail management co-curricular program that helps students successfully navigate the interview process for this industry.

Other Duties as Assigned and Administrative Responsibilities:

The ability to meet with the Executive in Residence group on a quarterly basis.

Work closely with the Career Development Program Manager to create student-meeting schedules.

Work closely with the Career Development Program Manager to execute programs.

Any and all other duties as deemed necessary by the Career Development Office

Executive in Residence appointment are made on a term-by-term basis.
