Salary Range for this position is $72,500 - $92,500. Salary Range is based on Experience and Education levels.

A DAY IN THE LIFE OF Laboratory Supervisor,

The ideal candidate for this role should possess demonstrated experience as a supervisor or in a similar management role, successfully overseeing large teams of 50 or more members. Additionally, they should exhibit strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to effectively manage people, resolve conflicts, and foster the development of team members. In this position, the individual will play a critical role in supporting the daily operations of the clinical laboratory. This involves overseeing workflow, providing coaching, troubleshooting, and resolving issues as they arise. Furthermore, they will serve as a key liaison between staff and upper management, helping the laboratory team as needed. Responsibilities also include ensuring that all procedures adhere to scientific methodologies and specialized analytical techniques, following regulatory standards. This entails supervising daily laboratory activities, maintaining compliance with quality management systems policies and procedures, and monitoring employee productivity while offering coaching and constructive feedback.

QUALIFICATIONS

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. This position requires comprehensive or specialized knowledge of the laboratory as well as education/experience consistent with CLIA 1988 requirements for Testing Personnel. Additionally, their work requires creativity, invention, imagination, & talent to not only successfully design, develop, & perform science experiments to ultimately troubleshoot analytical problems & associated tables, graphs & reports; but to also design, develop, perform & validate science experiments for laboratory developed tests (LDTs) in the research lab and in transferring to the commercial lab. ``` - Minimum Requirements - Minimally the supervisor is required to have obtained the following for recognition as a CLIA supervisor: - a B.S. in a biological or laboratory scientific discipline, or equivalent, with a minimum of 6 years of xperience in clinical, high-complexity molecular testing is a minimum requirement, OR an M.S in a biological or laboratory scientific discipline, or equivalent, with a minimum of 4 years of experience in clinical, high complexity molecular testing, OR a doctoral degree in a biological or laboratory scientific discipline, or equivalent, with a minimum of 2 years of experience in clinical, high complexity molecular testing, are the minimum requirements. - Demonstrated technical proficiency, scientific creativity, successful collaboration with others, and independent/ critical thinking skills. - Actively displays behaviors that support the mission, vision, and values of Castle Biosciences.

``` - Preferred Requirements - Proven experience as a supervisor or similar management role, managing a large team of 15 or more team members. Must have a strong ability to manage people, resolve conflicts, develop team members, and track processes. - Digital imaging lab experience a plus or immunofluorescent staining a plus. - 2 or more years of experience managing team members.

ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS

  • Most of the time is spent in typical laboratory areas, positioned at a computer workstation, and/or in low light (ergonomically correct devices and equipment provided).
  • Potential exposure to caustic, corrosive chemicals or bio-hazardous samples exists when in a laboratory area.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when in laboratory areas.

WORK SCHEDULE

  • Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM - 3:00 PM with flexibility as needed by the lab.
