DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: Tetra Tech is looking for a Chemical or Environmental Engineer for an exciting and challenging remote position. The successful candidate will plan and design water treatment projects utilizing an inter-disciplinary team of engineers and construction resources. This work will consist of waste water treatment projects throughout the US. Specific focus will be the treatment of PFAS contamination in water resulting from planned or operating treatment systems. Clients will be DoD, NASA, Local Municipal and Commercial.
Responsibilities: • Lead design projects and coordinate project teams utilizing multiple disciplines (civil, chemical, process, electrical, instrumentation and controls, etc.) to ensure the successful delivery of design projects. • Perform conceptual and detailed design for successful project execution including: chemical process treatment; process evaluation; mechanical component identification and specification; and electrical, instrumentation and controls. • Coordinate all other disciplines required to deliver successful projects including civil, geotechnical, structural, and construction. • Prepare detailed engineering reports, construction drawings, specifications, bill of materials, cost estimates, and supporting documents. • Ensure standard engineering practices and inclusion of appropriate documentation on various reports and design projects. • During construction provide support including review of contractor submittals, engineering interpretation of specifications and drawings, reviewing/responding to RFIs, and preparing/documenting design modifications. • Assist the project manager with budgeting, scheduling, and preparation of client documents documenting progress. • Support business development activities such as presenting at local/national conferences, building client relationships, and proposal writing. • Other duties may be assigned.

• Bachelor's degree in chemical or environmental engineering • 15+ years of experience in planning and designing water/wastewater treatment, distribution/conveyance, pumping, and storage facilities • Current experience with treatment of PFAS in water and wastewater • Valid Driver's License with an acceptable driving record • Proficiency in Microsoft software, including Excel, Word and Project • Excellent written and verbal communication skills • Position requires periodic travel, approximately up to 25% • Proficiency in AutoCAD and water treatment, process design or chemical design software for example EPANET, SWMM, HEC-RAS, BIM, SIMBA#, Envirosim BioWin, and GPS-X • *Additional consideration provided to candidates with the following certifications: *
- Certified Water Professional (CWP) per American Water Works Association;
- Waterworks and Wastewater Operator Licenses per ABC;
- Certified Environmental Engineer (CEE) per American Academy of Environmental Engineers and Scientists;
- Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) per OHSA
- This position requires the candidate to be a U.S. Citizen due to the projects they will be working on.

Successful candidate will supp rt field investigations that could potentially require the following: Performing strenuous fieldwork under a variety of site and adverse weather conditions; standing, crouching and sitting to facilitate operation of the equipment and collecting samples; moving earth via shovels or hand augers; lifting of pumps, other remediation equipment, cases containing equipment, sample coolers and other items weighing between 1 and 50 pounds; and potential exposure to natural (e.g., poison ivy), physical and chemical hazards. Ability to perform and maintain rigorous detailed documentation of field activities. Field work often involves extended hours on site. Candidate must be able and available to travel via land and/or air and possess a valid drivers' license in good standing.

A reasonable level of out-of-office travel based on project responsibilities, requirements, and client needs may be required. Position requires the ability to work under pressure or deadlines and to work overtime, as needed. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
This position requires the individual to drive either a rental car or his/her own car while performing their job from time to time. Employee must be able to perform the physical functions of operating a motor vehicle. Employee must be able to prove that he/she has a current, valid driver's license with no restrictions. Travel via air is also required.

Ability to write detailed reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Candidates must be able to professionally interact with clients, subcontractors, professionals, and the public.
