The Stigma, Health Equity, and Resilience (SHER) Lab here at CMU (PI: Michael Trujillo) has an opening for a part-time research assistant position (up to 30 hours per week) to begin the Fall/early Winter of this academic year (2024-2025). The appointment will be for 1 year, with additional years contingent upon performance and availability of funding.

The SHER Lab uses experimental paradigms, intensive longitudinal designs, and psychophysiology to examine the underlying mechanisms that link stigma and health as well as big data to identify the factors that promote health equity for stigmatized populations, especially as they related to sexual, gender, and racial/ethnic identity. The research assistant will work closely with the lab manager to help coordinate participant recruitment, data collection, and work with student research assistants on a number of projects at the intersection of stigma and health.

The research assistant will coordinate participant recruitment, collect data for various (non-)experimental studies, and work with student research assistants.Core Responsibilities include: Assist with human behavioral experiments and leading recruitment efforts for studies Engage in all aspects of data collection, including: recruitment and screening of participants, obtaining participant consent, subject assignment, outlining experimental protocol, and administration of questionnaires Work with undergraduate research assistants in a variety of lab related tasks including the screening and recruiting of participants, data entry, and study protocol Oversee organization and maintenance of lab equipment Support lab manager with administrative tasks, as needed

We are looking for someone who shares our values and who will support the mission of the university through their work.Qualifications High School Degree or equivalent Bachelor's Degree in Psychology or a related field preferred Curiosity about and interest in social or health psychology A passion for working with understudied and stigmatized communities Experience with capturing psychophysiology (e.g., impedance cardiography) in a laboratory setting and/or via wearable devices Prior research experience Strong organizational skills Ability to work independently and as a member of a team Proficiency in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, and Excel A combination of education and relevant experience from which comparable knowledge is demonstrated may be considered.
