We're seeking a future team member for the role of Senior Associate, Operational Risk to join our second line of defence risk team for Clearance & Collateral Management team. This role is located in Pittsburgh, PA in a Hybrid work environment. About the team: BNY Operational Risk Management concerns our internal bank operations and processes, management information systems, payment systems risk management, fraud risk management, internal controls, financial reporting, physical security, insurance and insurable risk, among other bank operations.As an Operational Risk Officer, this role will interact with diverse stakeholders including the First Line (eg the Business, Operations) and business partners such as Legal, Audit and Compliance. The Operational Risk team provides independent second line of defense review, challenge, oversight, and advice to the first line of defense. This role ensures that operational risks are properly identified, assessed, and mitigated, thus enabling proactive risk management aligned with on-going CCM activities and strategic priorities and plans. The Associate role is part of an Operational Risk team that spans the US, EMEA and APAC locations reporting into a global head of operational risk for CCM based in the UK. In this role, you'll make an impact in the following ways: Support engagement with the assigned Line of Business building relationships and driving first line of defense ownership of operational risk. Contribute to the identification, assessment, mitigation, monitoring and reporting of operational risk inherent to business activities and effectiveness of the control environment. Support the assigned Line of Business's adherence to the Operational Risk Management Framework, including the execution and maintenance of Risk & Control Self Assessments, Operational Risk Limits, Operational Risk Events and Business Process Change and Product risk assessments. Develop risk management reports.
To be successful in this role, we're seeking the following: Bachelor's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Graduate degree preferred. 2-4 years of experience in a global financial or professional services firm is preferred. Risk management experience is preferred. Conceptual familiarity with Clearing and Collateral Management is preferred. Proficiency with Microsoft applications including Word and Powerful. Moderate-to-Advanced skill level in Excel is required. Critical thinking and analytical skills and ability to work with data and identify risk trends, patterns, and concentrations. Interpersonal and communication skills with ability to articulate views and recommendations. Collaborative and team-oriented, demonstrating the ability to interact and engage with a diverse group of people in a variety of global functions. Results-oriented, able to work with high productivity in a fast-paced environment with tight timelines and competing priorities.
