Summary:

The Clinical Supervisor will serve as an expert in the Primary Care setting, providing leadership, mentoring, and staff education to all Medical Assistant staff. The Clinical Supervisor will work very closely with the Director of Primary Care and the Provider Leads to ensure and maintain safe clinical practices, quality of care and a positive patient experience. The Clinical Supervisor will also work closely with the Practice Manager to ensure all aspects of the Primary Care office are working in tandem with each other. The Clinical Supervisor will have access to highly confidential patient, employee and/or NLH proprietary information and must always handle and protect this information in accordance with system policies, HIPAA requirements and with the utmost level of professionalism and confidentiality. The Clinical Supervisor will have managerial oversite of the Medical Assistants assigned to the practices that the Clinical Supervisor is aligned with and will service as point of contact for the provider and staff regarding trouble shooting issues, managing clinical staff schedules, coordinating vacation request and call outs to ensure appropriate clinic coverage, performing clinical duties in office when appropriate, ensures smooth clinical operations which support team work, attends EHR training sessions and distributes new information to providers and staff through individual trainings and communications, clearly communicates and monitors and quality driven processes to the department. Clinical Supervisor is responsible for all hiring and onboarding and that annual competencies are completed for all Medical Assistants. Must be able to perform both administrative and clinical tasks in the medical care environment. Must always manifest a positive and caring attitude and possess the flexibility to change and adapt as needed.

Responsibilities:

• Hands on Leadership at two locations for Medical Assistants. • Hiring and Onboarding Medical Assistants (with the manager/director). • Development and Completion of annual competencies • Ensuring MA work to the appropriate level. • Responsible for coordinating the daily/weekly schedule. • Approval of MA timecards • 90 Day and Annual Evaluations (with the Director) • Addressing Patient Complaints as appropriate (with the Director) • Completion of daily/monthly audits and reports • Serves as a Super Users for the EMR • Performs job utilizing all resources with minimal waste of supplies, materials, and time. • Performs job within allotted time frame. • Demonstrates safe behavior in all aspects of job. • Utilizes higher education, seminars, professional publications, and hospital in services to remain current in profession. • Supports and contributes to practice administration. • Always maintain patient and staff confidentiality. • Orders or notifies proper staff of need for clinical supplies to budget. Audits utilization • Properly utilizes and maintains all equipment for job. • Is crossed trained for clerical duties in order to support staff when practice manager not on site. • Maintain a safe environment which includes knowing and understanding hospital and departmental policies and procedures. • Report and directly address identified environmental hazards when appropriate. • Report and directly address violations of patient safety policy and/or protocol when involved or observed. • In partnership with Director and Quality Team ensures readiness for JC/RHC, NCQA and other regulatory bodies. • In partnership with the Director to assist with budgeting and ensure fiscal responsibilities. • Is trained and able to perform an annual wellness visits with provider oversite. • Must meet all requirements of the Medical Assistants

Minimum Qualifications:

MEDICAL ASSISTANT – Certified/Registered requirement(s):

  1. Associate degree and 2-5 five years’ experience or five years’ experience as a certified medical assistant. Previous experience in supervision/management preferred.

  2. Certifications or registrations: CCMA, CMA, NCMA, RMA. BLS Certification

Education:

  • Required associate degree.

  • Required High School Diploma/General Educational Development (GED)
