The Position

Responsible for the development, execution and delivery of market access operations (Strategic Actions/IC Plan development, Account Targeting, Formulary validations and notifications, etc.) for Area and National Accounts Teams. Responsible for partnering closely with account managers, Market Access Franchise Teams, Market Access Insights and Sales execution leads to develop and execute pull-through strategies for Market Access wins. Works closely with franchise teams' pricing and value communication leads to develop and execute tailored messaging and tactics for NNI's largest payers. Subject Matter Expert in the functionality and application of all field-based systems (Veeva, Connex, MAC and IC Portal). Closely monitors the market access landscape to identify trends, business opportunities and new customers to engage in order to support the organization's long-term aspirations.

Relationships

Reports directly to the Sr. Director, Planning, Execution & Operations, with a strong dotted line to the VPs of National and Area Accounts. Responsible for leading MAPA Execution Team, which is responsible for supporting the National and Area Accounts Teams. Works closely with all MAPA Teams, Sales, Commercial Strategy and Marketing, Medical, Trade, Finance, Legal and other relevant stakeholders.

Essential Functions

  • Business planning & execution:

  • Develop complimentary target lists and call plans to ensure a coordinated and synergistic MAPA approach to market development and stakeholder engagement

  • Leads the planning and execution of National and Area Accounts meetings and conferences with VPs, Directors and other pertinent team members

  • Drive the execution of formulary wins with sales partners by ensuring clear communication of the business opportunity, assisting with tactics for implementation and ensuring availability of all necessary data and tools

  • Maximize the return on investment of Market Access Execution initiatives by tracking progress of market share and volume changes on impacted geographies

  • Assist National and Area Accounts Leadership in ensuring their teams have the tools and support necessary to be Business Consultants to their internal and external stakeholders

  • Partner closely with the Franchise Teams and MBU to understand TA strategies and execute via the field team’s Incentive Compensation Plans and target lists

  • Data analysis:

  • Work closely with Sales execution leads to identify areas of over/under performance and develop recommendations to address performance gaps

  • Ensure National and Area Accounts Leadership have the required tools to measure their team’s progress against strategic actions and calibrate performance during the mid and year-end cycles

  • Serve as a liaison between MAPA home office and field teams to ensure requests of the National and Area Accounts teams are clearly articulated and result in output that satisfies the request

  • Partner with secondary data providers and monitor relevant Market Access publications to share trends and potential outcome shifts to National and Area Accounts leadership

  • Oversee the bi-annual formulary validation process and communication of Market Access formulary wins and losses ensuring the appropriate cascade from MAPA leadership to our extended partners

  • General:

  • People manager for the MAPA Execution Team

  • Lead short and long-term projects for MAPA leadership that requires cross-functional collaboration and regular reporting to management

  • Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way of Management as well as acts in accordance with Novo Nordisk Way of Managements

  • Prepare and distribute quality written correspondence and follow-up, as required

  • Correlate relevant data into presentations for meetings that are facilitated by National and Area Account leadership

  • Other:

  • Complying with company policies and procedures, and regulatory requirements, including the Prescription Drug Marketing Act of 1987

  • Representing Novo Nordisk to customer constituencies to position Novo Nordisk as a leader in their respective therapeutic markets

    Physical Requirements

    20-30% overnight travel required. 15 - 30% overnight travel required.

    Development of People

    Ensure that reporting personnel have individual development plans (IDP), with annual goals and measurements that are consistent with the priorities of the business, and that interim reviews are held so that their work is focused on those priorities, and they understand their level of accountability for results and the measurement process.

    Ensure that the IDP forms include completed learning and aspiration plans and are in place for all reporting personnel to enable the achievement of goals and capability to assume increased levels of responsibility.

    Manage the application and communication of all Novo Nordisk policies, procedures, and Novo Nordisk Way.

    Qualifications

  • 10+ years progressively relevant business experience in areas such as account management, sales, marketing, or, finance, or market access, preferably in the pharmaceutical industry required

  • 3+ years’ experience as a people manager in a related Market Access function required

  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred

  • Ability to lead a team effectively; ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders; influence and negotiation skills and relationships management capabilities is a must

  • This person will possess a strong Market Access background, strong analytical skills and ability to identify and react to trends within the marketplace

  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Executive Presence - ability to interact and influence senior business leaders and business partners

  • Previous experience working in an operations capacity with systems and data is a plus

  • Sharp attention to detail and confidence to produce flawless deliverables for Market Access Leadership team
