Overview

Since our doors opened in 1968 CHI Health Plainview has been providing patients of Pierce Antelope and Knox counties in Nebraska with exceptional care and quality outcomes. We are a 15-bed critical access facility with inpatient and outpatient services.

Responsibilities

JOB SUMMARY / PURPOSE

A CommonSpirit Health Nurse Resident is a new graduate direct clinical care registered nurse (RN) who continues to develop nursing knowledge, skills, abilities, and behaviors introduced in formal education as they transition into practice. They are expected to demonstrate the appropriate competency in both core and functional areas, listed below. Progression is expected in the areas of leading through mission vision and values, patient/customer focus, taking ownership, health care knowledge, teamwork, clinical performance improvement, service excellence, decision making and critical thinking, and patient safety.

ESSENTIAL KEY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Evidence-based Practice (EBP) and Patient Care: Builds skills to utilize current evidence based practice knowledge, the nursing process, critical thinking and problem solving skills to provide holistic care to individuals across the lifespan and care continuum.

  2. Interprofessional Collaboration and Communication: Learns to collaborate and communicate with the interprofessional team to ensure effective and efficient patient care delivery and the achievement of desired patient outcomes.

  3. Leadership: Develops accountability for own practice, delegated care, and the coordination of care delivery. Behaves in a manner that supports colleagues, and maintains respect, trust and dignity.

  4. Professionalism: Acquires and maintains knowledge in nursing practice and assumes responsibility for theprofessional development of self.

f. Patient Safety: Basic understanding and knowledge of the risks faced by patients in a healthcare environment, and the ability to take steps to reduce these risks.

g. Clinical Performance Improvement: Basic understanding and knowledge of the factors contributing to quality patient care, and the ability to influence these factors in a positive way.

h. Continuous Learning: Basic understanding of the rationale behind the necessity to continually learn and grow and the ability to seek performance feedback and identify approaches to improve one's own performance and that of others.

i. Followership: Basic understanding of and ability to carry out strategies and tasks that support the mission and goals of the leader and the organization.

j. Service Excellence: Basic understanding and knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques; ability to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner.

k. Healthcare Knowledge: Basic understanding and knowledge of the operating principles, major issues, governmental regulations, and code of ethics for the healthcare industry; ability to apply this understanding appropriately to healthcare related situations.

l. Nursing Assessment and Care: Basic understanding of and ability to assess ailments and injuries of patients and implement a treatment plan.

m. Decision-Making and Critical Thinking: Basic understanding and knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.

n. Clinical Skills: Basic understanding of and ability to provide clinical skills necessary for patient care, e.g. history taking, therapeutic planning and monitoring, etc., to achieve optimized outcomes in medication therapy and clinical treatment.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required Education and Experience

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing with a minimum of an Associate’s Degree in Nursing required; Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred

  • 0-12 months of professional nursing (RN) experience

Required Licensure and Certifications

  • Active RN licensure in the state of Nebraska, Iowa, or nurse licensure compact.

  • Basic life support is required upon hire. Acceptable credentialing bodies and certifications include the following: American Heart Association: Basic Life Support.

  • Additional certifications may be required based on population(s) served and services provided

Pay Range

$33.50 - $48.58/hour
