Job Description:

The Engineering Operations, Project Engineer is responsible for driving engineering excellence with best practice processes and tools to help engineering teams solve Engineering business challenges across the segment. Responsible to lead a cross-functional engineering team to cultivate innovative solutions.

Engineering role will be responsible for Integrated Business Operations Planning Coordination influencing leadership to accept new practices, approaches, and concepts. The role is to ensure accurate and timely forecasting and the deployment of consistent tools across segment. Serve as internal expert and thought leader in area of workforce processes, business analytics of workforce measures, drive improvement of overhead spending including DLU management, critical tools management, talent gaps identification and workforce needs resolution. The role will include Engagement, Retention, and Development of Segment personnel including improving the employee experience and targeted employee development programs. A component of this role will be the oversight of the Command Media Library & Process Management for the Segment.

All aspects of this role will embrace the continuous improvement framework, e3, to drive continuous improvement activities within the IMS Engineering organization. This role will drive the capture of continuous improvement projects results, track engineering metrics and productivities associated with improvements, partner with Sector e3 leads on implementation of continuous improvement process and productivity improvement initiatives.

Essential Functions:

  • Drive business results by effectively implementing project plans across the segment integrating sector level implementations.

  • Establishes plans with key tasks and required resources.

  • Organizes data to identify major trends, problems and underlying issues.

  • Uses qualitative and quantitative data to identify problems and trends.

  • Identifies and emphasizes critical priorities to ensure team alignment.

  • Manages risk to plans and implements effective mitigation strategies

  • Leadership of Workforce Capabilities

  • Leads Engineering staffing and workforce planning efforts across Segment, partnering with Sector leads for and integrated solution set.

  • Facilitates the deployment and continuous maturity of workforce/staffing tools and measures.

  • Works with the Engineering Leadership Team to conduct skills assessments and determine gaps. Partners with Sector leads on gap closure plans.

  • Partners with Human Resources functions to improve the employee experience and targeted employee development programs for Segment to motivate, grow and inspire talent.

  • Manages/Maintains Segment Command Media Library & Process to ensure alignment of personnel to Segment process standards for effective business execution.

  • Drives Continuous Improvement and Segment Initiatives.

  • Provides oversight to continuous improvement, e3, Value Engineering, cost reduction initiatives, Design to Value

  • Promotes Innovative methodologies and methods to solve tough business issues in an agile environment

  • Travel may be required up to 20%

    Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in engineering and a minimum of 12 years of prior relevant experience; A master’s degree in engineering or a Master of Business and a minimum of 10 years of prior related experience

  • Experience leading engineering project teams that are geographically diverse.

  • Experience with one or more of the following areas is required:

  • Workforce Planning / Staffing

  • Employee Development

  • Continuous Improvement

  • Command Media / Process Management

    Preferred Additional Skills:

  • Experience with Leading Process Management, Continuous improvement, workforce planning, staffing and employee development initiatives

  • Experience with synthesizing complex information, familiarity with collection and data analytics, and design workflows and procedures.

  • Gathers and analyses information skillfully; develops alternative solutions; works well in group problem solving situations

  • Displays original thinking and creativity, develops innovative approaches and ideas; presents ideas.
