Luminator is seeking to fill our full-time IT Operations Engineer role to join our growing and dynamic Product Management Team where you will be an integral part of the team by providing valuable input as we work toward assessing and implementing goals and mission of the department and Luminator. 

The successful IT Operations Engineer candidate will be part of a team working to expand a strong and proven concept that has solid growth potential, with the opportunity to create substantial shareholder value. You  will be responsible for overseeing the seamless operations of software applications and systems within the hosting center. This includes developing and implementing deployment strategies, configuring environments, and automating processes to ensure efficiency and reliability. Additionally, the IT Operations Engineer plays a key role in monitoring system performance, troubleshooting issues, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvements.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

The successful candidate will have the ability to challenge the organization effectively, resolve problems, and willing to provide a hands-on approach in finding solutions.   • Environment Configuration: Set up and configure development, testing, staging, and production environments to support deployment processes, ensuring consistency and reliability across environments.

  • Automation: Design, develop, and maintain deployment automation scripts and tools to streamline deployment processes and minimize manual intervention.

  • Monitoring and Troubleshooting: Monitor system status and performance, proactively identifying and resolving issues to minimize downtime and optimize efficiency. Deploy and recommend monitoring systems to achieve SLA goals.

  • Documentation: Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including deployment procedures, troubleshooting guides, and best practices, to facilitate knowledge sharing and ensure repeatability of processes.

  • Deployment Planning: Collaborate with development, operations, and QA teams to plan and execute deployment strategies for software releases and system upgrades.

  • Release Management: Execute the release lifecycle to ensure proper tracking and traceability of software deployments.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with developers, system administrators, and other stakeholders to resolve technical challenges, implement improvements, and drive continuous optimization of deployment pipelines.

  • Security and Compliance: Ensure compliance with security policies and regulatory requirements throughout the deployment process, implementing necessary controls and conducting regular audits as needed.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    The IT Operations Engineer will be an experienced, operationally oriented professional who can successfully lead as a very hands-on IT Operations Engineer to scale for additional growth and maximize potential.

    This professional will possess:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or related technical field preferred. Relevant full-time employment experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

  • At least 3 years of experience as an IT or network engineer, DevOps engineer, or similar role, with a strong background in server administration, network administration, system software deployment, and application custom software deployment.

  • Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including desktops, servers, networking equipment, firewalls, storage devices, operating systems, and application software .

  • Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.

    ADDITIONAL PRIORITIES: 

    The IT Operations Engineer will prioritize and broadly execute the following:

  • Proficiency with other Microsoft Office applications is required, including but not limited to Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Ability to identify measures or indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct performance, relative to the goals of the system

  • Ability to use logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problems.

  • Ability to identify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.

  • Ability to give full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate, and not interrupting at inappropriate times.

  • Ability to understand written sentences and paragraphs in work-related documents.

    ADDITIONAL TECHNICAL SKILLS:

    General Computer Skills

  • Expert level Desktop & Server installation, configuration, and maintenance for Windows and Linux.

  • Proficiency in Bash and PowerShell scripting.

  • Installation, configuration, and management of system monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, and/or Icinga.

  • System imaging using proprietary and/or Microsoft tools.

  • Disaster recovery best practices.

  • Standard and proprietary Application Management.

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications is also required, including but not limited to Outlook, Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio.

    Windows Server

  • Microsoft Active Directory, Group Policy Objects

  • High availability storage, RAID, SAN, NAS, etc.

  • Best practices for securing server-to-server communications and client access to server resources

  • Experience with configuration of Microsoft IIS

  • Experience with installation and configuration of Microsoft SQL & SQL Express databases.

    Cloud and Datacenter

  • Experience with cloud computing platforms including Microsoft Azure

  • Installing, configuring, and troubleshooting VMware vSphere environments

    Networking

  • L2 & L3 Switching, LAN, WAN, Routing, Firewalls, VPN, VLAN

  • Cisco Switch and firewall installation, configuration, & monitoring
