Registered Nurse (RN) Lactation Consultant

Our Lactation Department is seeking a skilled nurse focused on helping new Moms through the Lactation process. Is that you?

Work location: Texas Health Plano, 6200 West Parker Road, Plano, Texas 75093

Work hours: Part Time, 24 Hours; 8:30am – 9:30am start time; Weekends and Holiday rotation required

Here’s What You Need

· Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program

· BSN preferred

· One-year experience as a clinical nurse, or completion of an RN residency program.

· One year of Lactation Consultant experience highly preferred

· Outpatient Lactation experience preferred

· RN – Registered Nuse upon hire reqjuired

· IBCLC certification required within 12 months

· IBCLC upon hire preferred

· CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention training required within 90 days and maintained annuually

• BCLS – Basic Cardiac Life Support prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly

What You Will Do

· Function as an expert resource on breastfeeding issues for patients, families, community, staff, and physicians.

· Serve as a clinical expert for lactation issues based on evidence.

· Produce documentation that initiates, follows and revises patient’s plan of care.

· Collaborate with the multidisciplinary team to improve care processes that promote continuity of care.

· Review patient medications for potential complications associated with breastfeeding.

· Assess outpatients for symptoms of jaundice and breastfeeding problems

· Participate in breast pump rental and retail sales within the Breastfeeding Resource Center
