JPMorgan Chase Risk Management - Lead Credit Officer - Vice President in Plano, Texas

As a Lead Credit Officer Vice President in Dealer Commercial Services, you will manage a portfolio of approximately $750 million in loan commitments representing our largest and most complex relationships. The Dealer Commercial Services team specializes in floorplan lines of credits, real estate loans, acquisition loans, working capital loans, and treasury products to our 500+ franchised retail automobile dealers.

As a part of the team, you will be responsible for the credit analysis and review of commercial loans to prospects/existing customers, collaborating with banking partners, and structuring transactions that are consistent with our company's policies and procedures. You will take ownership of the credit process and possess the ability to multi-task, prioritize deal flow and meet delivery deadlines, while making decisions in the best interest of the customer and organization. You will possess and apply a broad understanding of the business environment including the auto industry, current events, and economic cycles.

Job Responsibilities

  • Utilizing excellent commercial credit skills to prepare written credit reviews which assesses credit opportunities, identifies key risks with appropriate structures to mitigate risks including covenants, terms, and conditions for approval

  • Determining capacity of operating entities to repay their financial obligations through analysis of company-prepared/audited financial statements and detailed cash flow analysis

  • Completing obligor and facility risk ratings with documented rationale for the final risk grades

  • Proactively own your portfolio management responsibilities including annual reviews, loan modifications, covenant breaches inventory audits, overline management, and analyzing trends in key dealer metrics

  • Mentoring and training of analysts who support your portfolio management activities and junior underwriters

  • Interacting with clients, virtually or in person, in conjunction with the Banker

  • Leading/contributing to special projects related to credit topics and issues

  • Working proactively, in a constructive, diplomatic manner, with both internal and external contacts to keep transactions moving

  • Demonstrating excellent communication skills both internally and externally and using those communication skills to effectively solve problems

Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Bachelor of Arts in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, or equivalent work experience if non-Finance related degree

  • 7+ years commercial underwriting / automotive captive experience, with significant knowledge of accounting, risk grading, cash flow analysis, financial statement analysis, franchise value analysis, loan structuring, and market

  • Hands-on experience underwriting commercial loans to franchised auto dealerships, or equivalent, including floor plan, real estate, and acquisition lending

  • Superior analytical, interpersonal, analysis, and problem-solving skills supported by excellent written and verbal communication including presenting to executive-level management

  • Demonstrated judgment and ability to act decisively

  • Expert knowledge of credit philosophy and policies, understanding of commercial loan documentation requirements, and related legal issues

Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills

  • Master of Business Administration

  • Thorough knowledge of the Bank's policies and procedures, as well as its products and their inherent risks
