Luminator is seeking to fill our full-time Senior Buyer role to lead the Supply Chain for Mobile Video Solutions within the Material Management team by providing valuable input as we work toward assessing and implementing goals and mission of the department and Luminator. This is an opportunity to be part of something new and exciting within Material Management.

Position Overview:   

As a Senior Buyer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the seamless flow of materials to support our operations and meet customer demand. You will be responsible for strategically sourcing and procuring assigned components, negotiating contracts, managing supplier relationships, and optimizing costs to enhance the company's competitive edge.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage an assigned commodity desk, which entails determining needs, locating, procuring, arranging for delivery, and following through on issues pertaining to the materials including resolution of discrepant material and invoice discrepancy issues.

  • Responsible for supplier performance reviews assigned to your commodity group, including coordinating with Supplier Quality and leading cadenced supplier reviews.

  • Proactively identify and take appropriate corrective actions to prevent material shortages. Expedite materials as required and provide accurate material status information to other departments and site management.

  • Effectively communicate forecasted requirements to external suppliers.

  • Prepare and present recommendations of improvement opportunities and alternative courses of action to purchasing leaders. Support purchasing management in activities such as price benchmarking, vendor management, process analysis, market and industry research, and model building.

  • Consistently apply purchasing policies, procedures and processes. Conduct minor contract negotiations. Gather information and provide input on larger contracts. Manages loading and retrieving of legal and compliance documents into applicable storage systems.

  • Drive increased inventory turns, reduced cycle times, and improved Customer OTD by developing, implementing, and managing pull-based material replenishment processes, including, but not limited to Kanban cards, vendor managed inventory and supplier consignments.

  • Work to eliminate excess and obsolete parts and rationalize similar parts.

  • Participate in Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events that will eliminate waste and result in significant benefits (Growth, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) throughout the Supply Chain.

    Qualifications:

    Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business or Engineering, or a related field. Master’s degree, preferred. Extensive experience (minimum 6 years) in the Electronics Manufacturing Industry & Sheet Metal buying in recent years can be substituted in lieu of 4-year degree.

    Experience:

  • At least 4 years of experience in Electronics purchasing/planning.

  • Direct experience implementing lean concepts (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Leadership, 5S, etc.) is highly desirable.

  • CPIM, CSCP, Lean Manufacturing and Six-Sigma Green Belt certifications are highly desirable.

  • Ability and desire to work hands on and with details without losing track of the overall objectives.

  • Basic knowledge and ability to interpret electrical schematics for product sourcing

  • Skilled in Product Life Cycle Management with proficiency in managing New Product Supply Chain setup and Product Obsolescence

  • Demonstrated ability to manage scope changes within High Mix/High volume production environment

  • Highly organized and able to function successfully in a fast-paced product development environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a proven ability to create and maintain positive working relationships with suppliers and stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with key individuals at all levels of the organization to implement changes.

  • Excellent analytical, problem solving/decision making skills; ability to make timely, effective, fact-based decisions. 

  • Prior knowledge of supplier performance management practices and supplier scorecard.

  • Proficient in ERP systems and Microsoft office suite software.
