Description

Overall Responsibilities :

  • Prospect for and sell advertising and marketing services to assigned and new accounts.

  • Prepare advertising for input into production.

  • Participate in the development and coordination of special sections and special features that capitalize on market trends.

  • Assist the outside account executives and other team members in servicing customers.

  • Assist the Sales Manager in the day-to-day operation of the department.

  • Generate revenue from ROP advertising, digital advertising, preprints, we-prints, cross-selling, special sections and features.

  • Complete daily, weekly, and monthly advertising-related reports and maintain files.

  • Function as an active participant in helping department achieve its goal through participative management and teamwork.

    Specific Responsibilities :

  • Generate revenue through all advertising platforms to reach sales goals.

  • Work efficiently and effectively with in-house staff, advertising clients and production department.

  • Work in a team environment with internal and external members to accomplish deadline standards, quality control and a cohesive and efficient department.

  • Establish contact with inactive accounts within the Grant County territory through phone calls, emails, and in-person visits, as well as sell to new and existing accounts.

  • Assist in selling signature ad promotions and quarterly promotions.

  • Assist classified advertising customers and enter classified advertising orders.

  • Coordinate ad flow of special projects as they become relevant.

  • Assist with planning and execution of special events.

  • Assist in the development of Digital Advertising creation.

  • Correctly enter ad copy and billing information into the advertising system.

  • Pre-proof and edit display ads for accuracy in size, punctuation, spelling, content and proper design.

  • Update all customer account information.

  • Assist with collection calls at the 60-day delinquent mark.

  • Act as main contact for all preprint house accounts. i.e. Menards, Piggly Wiggly, Farm & Fleet

  • Schedule and approve insertion orders and forward copies to relevant publications.

  • Accurately enter preprint billing for house accounts on a weekly basis.

  • Address shipping, quantity, and other issues related to preprints.

  • Collect needed data and documents for quarterly CVC audits.

  • Work with WPS on circulation and schedule changes.

  • Prioritize work according to deadlines to ensure all projects are completed within assigned deadlines.

  • Suggest and initiate, as appropriate, new methods and procedures to enhance the efficient operation of the department.

  • Participate in company training programs.

  • Process payments for prepaid and billed ads, counter sales, special event tickets and log payments in appropriate accounts, as needed.

  • Perform building open/close procedures, as needed.

  • Actively participate in the Great Game of Business.

  • Other job-related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications

Skills : Effective communicator both written and spoken, keyboarding skills with expertise with Microsoft Office Suite, ability to create an ad from concept through final output. Ability and desire to work in a team environment to achieve group goals. Ability to communicate well with the public and co-workers. Ability to resolve conflict within the department. Capable of self-direction, works well with others, tactful, ethical. Presents a positive representation of the company and the organization in both actions and words. Adaptable to change.

Knowledge: High school diploma or equivalent or technical school plus six months or more equivalent experience. Customer service experience is preferred.
