Main responsibilities will include:

  • Provide expertise in investment projects related to plant infrastructure, manufacturing equipment, and reliability management systems.

  • Facilitate criticality evaluation of site assets to prioritise maintenance efforts.

  • Develop and implement maintenance strategies aligned with BD Excellence.

  • Utilise appropriate tools and processes for criticality assessment, risk-based analysis, maintenance plan development, diagnosis, and root cause analysis.

  • Develop and enforce site technical standards to ensure consistent performance.

  • Analyse maintenance data to identify improvement projects and optimise the life cycle of site assets.

  • Support the maintenance of up-to-date knowledge and awareness of improvement methodologies and new techniques in maintenance engineering.

  • Coordinate the development and update of maintenance plans and spare part classification.

  • Coach the Maintenance Team and other related roles to investigate failures and initiate corrective actions.

  • Promote BD Best Practice Networks and Asset Care culture.

  • Participate in staff development by defining training and skill development opportunities.

  • Supervise and control non-value added activities, MTTR, MTBF, failure trends, and maintenance costs to identify priorities and trigger re-evaluation of criticality.

  • Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with technical standards and best practices.

  • Analyse and optimise preventive and corrective maintenance processes considering constraints and needs of other functions.

  • Stay updated on new technologies to develop appropriate solutions for the site.

  • Ensure harmonisation of processes and promote technical standards.

  • Benchmark engineering and maintenance results against other BD sites and external references.

About you

  • HND or Degree in Engineering or Technical/manufacturing experience in lieu of an associate degree.

  • Experience working as a reliability engineer or a similar role.

  • Medical device manufacturing experience preferred.

  • Proven experience in manufacturing preferred.

  • Proficient in effective oral/written communication, teambuilding, independent thinking, decision making, machine design, troubleshooting, safety & ergonomics expertise, project management, data collection and statistical analysis, quality systems knowledge, logistics & planning knowledge, computer skills (Microsoft Office), and basic financial acumen.

  • Basic knowledge of maintenance strategy (AM/PM, TBM, CBM, Predictive).
