WestRock Company Forming Technician (Maintenance) in Plymouth, Indiana

Our Food Service Packaging plant facility in Plymouth, IN is seeking a Forming Technician that will be an integral part of the Plymouth team supporting Finishing and Forming Department primarily on 2nd Shift (2:00pm-10pm). The starting rate is $21.01/hr., plus shift differential. The Forming Technician ensures overall quality and waste/productivity goals are accomplished through effective equipment maintenance by performing the following key responsibilities.

  • Ensure all machines are running properly.

  • Oversee the production process of the Stackers and Packers.

  • Ensure mechanical parts of the machines are in working order.

  • Request needed parts and supplies on an as needed basis.

  • Ensure maintenance is performed in a timely manner to keep production moving.

  • Perform all scheduled maintenance for finishing department equipment.

  • Monitor hourly waste/productivity results and adjust the equipment or parts to ensure shift goals are met.

  • Accurately and thoroughly fill out daily production records and enter in the computer system.

  • Maintain full compliance of all GMPs.

  • Maintain housekeeping excellence in accordance with Golden Broom Program.

  • Follow all safety procedures and promote safety & safety programs throughout the facility.

  • Perform all required customer and departmental quality checks.

  • Participate and ensure department is compliant with YUM! /AIB audit regulations.

  • Perform all assigned tasks as directed by the Finishing Dept. Manager.

What you need to succeed:

  • High school or GED preferred.

  • Ability to read a tape measure (to 1/16" measurement), do basic math, and some computer skills.

  • Ability to lift, push and/or pull up to 50lbs, navigate stairs, stand, walk, bend, and kneel throughout the entire shift.

  • Must be self-starting/self-motivated and able to work independently.

  • Effective communication skills and excellent coordination skills.

  • Great organizational and time management abilities.

  • Industrial manufacturing experience is preferred.

  • General safety, lockout/tagout, HAZMAT, forklift safety, electrostatic discharge awareness, foreign object damage awareness, and quality system awareness.

  • Must be able to perform but not limited to the following skills: carpentry, plumbing, masonry, electrical (assist the facilities electrician), machine repair, plant layout, painting, and janitorial.

  • Required to be familiar with and use all hand tools and power tools common to the skills listed and be well versed in the disciplines mentioned above.

  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, sketches, O.E.M. instructions and specifications.

  • Must feel comfortable with working in a team environment consisting of facility team members and outside contractors.

  • Required to use considerable judgment when performing and planning to perform his/her tasks.

  • Must be flexible on shift. Must successfully pass pre-employment screenings, drug test, and criminal background check.
