Honeywell Lead Engineer Technician II in Plymouth, Minnesota

This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced technician skilled in laboratory-grade and prototype sensors build and test, build and test of electronics, and support of test stations as part of our research and development team. The candidate will be involved in technology development projects ranging from first principle demonstrations to near-production ready.

Be part of a team that develops cutting-edge technologies in the area of Micro-Electrical-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) based inertial sensors such as accelerometers, gyroscopes and pressure sensors. You will work in a mems development and testing lab, and will participate in the development and fabrication of cutting-edge technologies in the field of micro-electrical mechanical systems (MEMS) having a variety of industrial applications. This will enable you to support new products, processes, standards or operational plans within the organization's business strategies, with a direct impact on business results.

The Lead R&D Semiconductor Engineering Technician II, will be expected to follow detailed instructions and keep accurate records, debug errors in operations and keep records of those observations. You will communicate the status of assembly and test work in progress and coordinate work with others on different schedules. You will work on multiple projects during any workday. You will work in a team environment or independently but operating in coordination with the principal investigator and co-workers. Safety/Housekeeping is very important as some devices require following special handling procedures.

The annual base salary range for this position is $72,400 to $92,600. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate’s work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • High School Diploma

  • 8+ years industry experience in a lab environment

  • Direct applicable experience with sensor electronics, printed wiring board build and layout, and multiple sensor technologies such as gyros and accelerometers

WE VALUE

  • Electronics trade school or equivalent

  • Knowledge and experience creating electronics schematics, layout printed wiring boards using CAE/CAD, assemble fine-pitch soldered electronics boards, and order parts using on-line procurement system

  • Capable of planning, and executing the hardware build and testing of sensors, including debugging hardware and software desired

  • Experience conducting sensors and electronics tests, compiling test results, and writing basic test reports

  • Ability to operate prototype semiconductor packaging equipment, safely handle silicon wafers, and packaged sensors using standard procedures

  • Experience with Electronics: Op-Amps, Regulators, Embedded Controllers, & Testing & debugging circuits

  • Experience with Test Equipment: Meters, Oscilloscopes, Spectrum analyzers

  • Experience with Computer/LAN troubleshooting, configuring IP settings, run scripts, collecting data, and familiarity with GPIB, RS232 & Ethernet protocols

  • Experience with soldering SMT components

  • Experience with mechanical skills: hand tools, small power tools, and a basic understanding of vacuum systems

  • Software experience in MS Office, Visual Studio – any programming language, Embedded controller programmers, Visio, OrCAD

  • Ability to consistently make timely decisions even in the face of complexity, balancing systematic analysis with decisiveness
