Program Specialist, TRIO Student Services (2653)\ Pocatello Main\ \ Job Description
The TRIO Upward Bound Program Specialist will implement various program-wide initiatives and provide administrative support to aid staff and high-school-aged participants.
Night and weekend work is required, primarily during the 6-week Summer Academy and 1-2 Saturday tutoring dates per month during the academic year.
Key Responsibilities
Programming and recruitment (70%):
Proactively communicate with ISU departments and external partners to secure needed services and resources, including ISU accounts, meal plans, etc. for the residential summer program. Attend campus and community events to build connections with potential partners.
Implement the summer internship program and advise student participants. Recruit potential internship hosts, match students to hosts, advise students regarding professional development before their internships begin, and maintain communication with hosts to address any issues that arise.
Develop and implement all aspects of Summer Food Service participation and documentation.
Advise students in the UB Bengal Bridge cohort, including developing and presenting workshops on relevant topics, monitoring academic progress, and meeting with students individually to provide guidance.
Assist with staff in schools as needed, including school visits, tutoring, and supervising students during activities and on trips.
Participate in recruitment initiatives and other events, including giving classroom presentations and discussing the program at tabling events.
Develop content to post regarding recruitment and program activities via social media, submitting items to university and local news, etc. Arrange for promotional advertisements as needed.
Participate in staff meetings and professional development, including state/regional conferences and helping to ensure grant compliance by developing awareness of federal legislation and regulations and ISU policies and procedures.\ \ Administrative support (30%):
Ensure that student documentation and data are organized, filed, and up to date.
Complete forms and processes regarding financial transactions, hiring, and travel. Assist with onboarding and training of new staff.
Create and edit physical and Docusign forms.
Monitor and order office supplies and participant supplies.
Process and track participant stipends.
Support completion of annual performance reports and other audits and compliance visits.
Arrange details of program and staff activities including transportation, travel needs, venue reservations, and catering.
Front desk support, including training and supervising student workers, and answering/routing calls and email.\ \ Other reasonable duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelors degree
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Two (2) or more years professional experience working independently solving problems, prioritizing tasks, and coordinating activities requiring complex arrangements
Proficiency in computer-based applications (e.g., Microsoft Office, Google Suite) and Internet resources, particularly spreadsheets and databases
Strong organization skills
Preferred Qualifications
? Experience working with adolescents
Background and/or experience that aligns with target populations
Experience with state or federal record keeping
Recruiting and/or advising experience
Bilingual (Spanish)
Valid drivers license

Salary will be \$47,325 per year, commensurate with education and experience.
