Summary You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (MECHANICAL) in the COMBAT SYSTEMS DIVISION, ENGINEERING AND PLANNING DEPARTMENT of PORTSMOUTH NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will be responsible for coordinating with other Engineers and Technicians to ensure that all systems are covered. You will evaluate project objectives, perform complete engineering calculations, and identify the most economical and efficient procedures for performance verification. You will consult with vendor personnel to resolve difficult and complex problems prior to Combat Systems installation and/or test. You will review and evaluate design drawings, material samples, and material certifications provided by vendors. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-11 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: *Experience assisting with the planning, installation, and testing of equipment and systems involved during a ship's overhaul period *Experience preparing scheduling documents, status reports, milestone charts, and other management documents for assigned systems. *Experience assisting in training new engineers and technicians in the organization. *Experience performing engineering calculations and identifying the most economical and efficient procedures for performance verification. GS-09 Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: *Experience preparing correspondence, technical reports, fact sheets, status reports to complete project assignments. *Experience working with systems such as hydraulics ventilation, heating and cooling systems. *Experience working with Periscopes, Towed Arrays, and Masts.
