nearly 22M tons of dry bulk annually, along with more than 1,000 vessels, 1,100 yachts, 150 breakbulk

vessels, 14,600 rail cars and 8M barrels of liquid bulk and containers. Our terminal operations leverage

worldwide customer base.

Position Summary: In this position, the team member will execute operations at Louis Dreyfus Commodities safely and efficiently. Duties will include stevedoring operations of loading vessels and will require the employee to take an overall leadership position with assuring that operations are meeting or exceeding expectations. Understanding the safe and efficient loading of marine vessels and prioritizing this activity. Providing and offering leadership and training to operators in a team setting. Operate as a member of a team, responsible for coordinating information flow between each crew member and management. This position requires the ability to work closely with multiple team members and sometimes with minimal supervision.

Essential Responsibilities and Duties:

  • General terminal operations as directed and scheduled.

  • Review stevedore pre-vessel documents with Superintendent(s)

  • Ensure all stevedoring equipment is in good working order and fueled prior to work start

  • Ensure that immediate working area is safe to work and that all team members assigned are wearing required PPE

  • Assist with the supervision of stevedore teams in vessel loading to ensure all safety, cleanliness and efficiency measures are being utilized at all times

  • Assist with leadership, training and monitoring of less-experienced employees.

  • Identify operational issues and concerns, resolve and/or make recommendations to Superintendent(s)

  • Run errands for Superintendent(s)

  • Communicate with Superintendent(s) as needed during shift

  • Operate heavy machinery including but not limited to cranes, bulldozers and forklifts

  • Post-vessel cleanup

  • Any other duties as assigned by management

Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required:

  • High School diploma or equivalent

  • Valid TWIC and Drivers License required

  • Previous experience in cargo handling and operating heavy machinery

  • Ship or barge loading and unloading experience preferred

  • Working knowledge of health and safety procedures

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills

Physical Requirements:

  • Work in most weather conditions and around heavy machinery, which can be dangerous at times

  • Shift work which may require early mornings, evenings and weekends

  • Ability to lift up to 75lbs.

  • Must meet “fit for duty” requirements upon job offer (pre-employment physical and drug test)
