Naval Education and Training Command SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST in Port Hueneme, California

Summary You will serve as a SAFETY AND OCCUPATIONAL HEALTH SPECIALIST for the CENSEABEESFACENG. Responsibilities You will manage, oversee, guide, advise and evaluate the planning and administration of a complete training safety and occupational health program for all subordinate commands. You will prepare and revises safety instructions and guides. You will prepare detailed, written reports concerning the status of safety actions, utilizing safety databases to retrieve requested data. You will perform accident investigations, analyze reports to determine causal factors, and identify trends that prove effective in devising accident/injury control measures. You will perform in-depth and deliberate risk analyses of command operations. You will review building designs, construction practices, workspace layouts, and modifications of facilities to determine level of compliance with regulations. You will apply principles, practices, procedures, instructions, and policies applicable to high/moderate risk training. You will conduct classroom and on-the-job safety training for both supervisory and non-supervisory personnel. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Applying knowledge of safety and occupational health principles, practices, and procedures to identify hazards and risks; 2) Conducting workplace accident investigations, analysis and reporting; 3) Developing and implementing disaster preparedness plans to assure availability of emergency care services; and 4) Utilizing electronic safety program/systems (e.g., Enterprise Safety Application Management System (ESAMS), Risk Management Information (RMI)) to process new staff personnel, conduct employee indoctrination, record safety related training and other reporting functions..
