Job Overview

The Carpentry Foreman works closely with Project Superintendents to provide oversight and direction to field carpenters, site assistants, and subcontractors on Commercial and Residential projects and ensures that field work is completed in a high-quality, safe, efficient manner consistent with budget and contract specifications.

Education, Experience, and Skills

  • High School diploma and/or technical education in a construction related field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Minimum five years of related experience in general carpentry and construction management with experience leading crews of carpenters and site assistants and putting work in place.

  • Significant experience with framing complicated residential and commercial projects including stick framing, wall panels, floor panels, and trusses.

  • Experience using scissor and boom lifts, Lulls (telescopic forklifts), and rigging preferred.

  • Knowledge of building materials, fastening systems, trades, and the construction process, including budgeting, contracts, and construction estimating, to ensure timely, safe, and proper execution of assigned tasks.

  • Proficiency in reading construction plans, and specifications to provide information to project/team members.

  • Ability to anticipate construction process issues and problems to keep the overall schedule of the project on track.

  • Ability to manage multiple projects concurrently and prioritize scheduled work under pressure of deadlines.

  • Ability to lead and motivate project/team members and subcontractors.

  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to work in a collaborative, team environment.

  • Computer and technology ability using construction software to track work and progress (ProCore, Microsoft Outlook and Excel, etc.).

  • Knowledge of pertinent federal, state, and local regulations such as building codes, OSHA requirements, and other construction safety standards.
